I have been separated from my husband since Feb. 2008. He is in the Navy. We have a 1 year old son. He is not supporting his son or me since I left. I am living with my mom so she is supporting us both. Who can I talk to in the Navy that will get him to pay. He is still getting the extra money from the Navy like we still live with him. He won't return my calls and the people I have contacted in the Navy just give me the run around.

  1. Would you join the Navy if you couldn't take the gravy and rice?

    Think about it!

  2. First attempt to contact your Ombudsman (this is his/her job). If you are unsuccessful there contact the Fleet and Family Support Center closest to his command or https://www.nffsp.org This is a family advocacy issue. They should do your leg work for you.

  3. His commander.

  4. You need to contact his first shirt, also know as his commanding officer. Head to your nearest Navy base, and get into legal. They can track down any information for you. They can also find out who he reports to and get you in contact with them.

THEN, show up and talk to his first shirt. The next steps is up to them or the courts.

  5. Send a letter to your Congressman - with a copy of the decree, and explain what the Navy is doing -

    Your Congressman will fix it.

  6. If I was you I would go to his command and if that doesn't work I would go to my local child support enforcement and open up a case against him.I would also go get me a lawyer and file for a divorce and child custody papers. But first move contact his commanding officer.

  7. You need to talk to his commanding officer.

Keep hassling them and eventually you will get what you are looking for.

  8. Alright, your not going to like this answer but its the truth.  The military only says that the husband has to support.  Their are monetary guidelines... but really they are just suggestions.  You need to file for legal separation.  If your near a Naval Base you can go to Navy Legal for information on how to do this.  They will help you with the paperwork too.  Once you have a legal separation with a judgment stating how much child support he must pay, you can talk to Navy Legal again to see what you can do.  You might can even send that document to DFAS and have them take it out of his pay.  If he is giving you no money at all... you need to contact Navy Legal immediately.  I would like to know if this guy is at my command!!!
