Who do you think, out of these three, would make the best assistant AFL coach?

Michael Voss

Nathan Buckley

Mark Ricciuto

The WCE have given two of their current assistant coaches the flick & are looking for replacements.

They have already approached Voss & are expected to make approaches to Buckley & Ricciuto in the very near future. Do you think any would take up the offer?

  1. Nathan Buckley.

I was talking to Mick yesterday & he is strongly trying to talk Bucks into going to the Eagles. Mick would surely feel more comfortable with Buckley on the other side of the continent!!!!

  2. voss, by far

  3. Voss might take up the offer but i think he will end up coaching the new Gold Coast Team. I think Buckley would be the best out of the three. Yet they all have fantastic leadership skills and experience from playing. They would all make great assisstant coaches.

  4. **I don't know that I can see Voss taking it because I think you'll find if the AFL introduce a team on the Gold Coast it'll be Voss who is coaching them.

As for Buckley and Ricciuto I think the one who would be more likely to go over to the west would be Ricciuto.

Buckley might hang around Collingwood and wait until Malthouse decides to leave because I'm sure all the Collingwood faithful would LOVE to see Buckley as coach.**

  5. BUCKLEY FOR SURE, I HATE THE MAGGIES, BUT LISTENING TO THE 3 OF THEM COMMENTATE, HE'S GOT THE MOST FOOTY SMARTS!

  6. I would want either Voss or Ricciuto. Both were tough players which I think is severely lacking at the minute at WC. Unfortunately, I think Voss will pay a huge part of the new GC team, so that leaves Riccuito. I have never really warmed to Buckley so I don't think him. I have need tryig to think of other recently departed players that may fit in but the brain is all a blank!!

  7. Ricciuto.

He is a solid and dependable bloke whose confidence would allow him to play the assistant role until he's ready to step up.

Buckley, already started well as a commentator, has the smarts to step straight into a head role if he's offered it.

    Voss thinks he has.

    Go with the Roo!

  8. Mark Ricciuto for mine.

The Eagles need toughening up & he is just the bloke to show them how.

I think Voss has his eyes on the GC coaching job & I wouldn't recommend Buckley - he'd spend more time admiring himself in the mirror than coaching the players!

  9. Voss is considerd to be the coach of the Gold Coast maybe coach Brisbane Vossy

  10. i think buckley cause he is the most outspoken one of the 3

  11. I read that this morning too, Voss seems the top candidate for the GC job and Buckley looks settled at Channel 7 in Melbourne. I don't think they'll take the offer. Possibly Ricciuto.

As for the question who would make the best assistant coach I think Voss

  12. Oh. Tough Question.

I reckon Voss i gonna take the GC coaching job but I reckon he'd be the best assisstant coach.

Bucks is good at Channel 7 and he'd also be a good assisstant coach for the Magpies.

Ricciuto would be the first choice for assisstant coach if I were on the WCE board.

  13. i rekon buckley would b the ideal replacement for wce

  14. I don't think Bucks would take up the offer because he has already said he is focusing on his career in the media first, and he will consider a coaching role later.

Michael Voss is nearly certain to be the coach of the new Gold Coast team, so I don't think he would be an assistant coach at WCE.

Mark Ricciuto is a possibility, but I don't know much about him. If he was looking for a future career in coaching that just may be the right job for him.

  15. Buckley has an excellent analytical football brain, is in touch with the modern game, has spent alot of time in Collingwood's coaching box over the previous 2 seasons and IMO would make an ideal assistant coach ATM. He'd be my first choice without doubt.

Voss and Riccuito while not as strong analytical minds as Buckley are more rousing/inspirational personalities, have both been involved in premiership winning teams (so they know what it takes) and I'm sure will make very good coaches in the future.

  16. If buckly comes to the eagles i will die so:

I am really hoping for micheal voss, i think he was a true legend and will hopefully be good for us.

Mark Ricciuto, he was a tough nut and a good allrounder, i think he would be instrumental in developing some of our younger players faster than how they would usually have to develop (to fill the gaps in WCE's side)

Either way i will be thrilled if we get Voss or Ricciuto. But please not Buckley (he can commentate, thats all he is good for).

  17. i think voss..... but i dont know if he would take it up since he would probably want 2 coach the new gold coast team.... otherwise buckley would b the next best

  18. I reckon Ricciuto

Nothing against the other two just cant imagine them being an assistant they would want to be "top dog" and both seem pretty comfortable in there after footy careers

Ricciuto was a gun he would have plenty to offer the eagles and he wouldn't undermine the current coaching staff
