I was in a wreck in April, my two children was also in the car. Since then I have had stress creep up on me. I had to miss classes due to not having a car which cause my grades to lower, I have to find rides for anything I have to do, which is not always easy, I have to pay for daycare out of my pocket per week even if my kids does not attend and not having a car if I can not find a ride, my kids can't go. I went to the chiropractor for 2 months. It was the other driver fault. My car was a total lost. I suffered from back pain, knee pain and non stop headache. The chiropractor said I suffered from whiplash and also sometimes in wrecks you twist your neck the wrong way and it causes severe headaches. The Insurance wants to settle $2000.00 in my pocket and pay off my doctor bill. Should I get a lawyer.

  1. Talk to a reputable lawyer and see what he/she says.  They'll know if it's worth chasing more money.  Sounds like you deserve more.

  2. Get a lawyer

  3. Why do you need a lawyer? He/she/it will only take 33% of your settlement from you and no matter what he/she/it says a lawyer cannot make a claim worth more than it's worth -- meaning that even if he/she/it managed to up the settlement amount by a thousand dollars the lawyer will snatch $330 of it. It's entirely possible that you won't get ANY extra and you will still have to pay the slime-ball lawyer. The longer you don't settle the longer you don't have a car and a lawyer will drag this out for months and months and months....

  4. Please! Get a lawyer. I did. The lawyer most likely will take it on a contingency basis whereby he gets 33-1/3% when you win the case and you do not pay a cent up front to lawyer. Mine wanted pictures of car and all the information I could give him. Please do not settle for that amt. until you at least talk to lawyer. Ins. companies have HIgh and low bids they offer u and usually start with the low settlement. The amt. they offerred doesn't seem fair for all you are going through. Also did u ask Ins. Co. to give u a paid rental car since it was their client's fault...guess that depends on his auto coverage. Still, u need to ask. I am assuming  it is the other drivers' ins. company that is offerring settlement. If this 2,000.00 represents pain & suffering - it is not enough and what about the kids...sure the lawyer will take them into consideration. Good luck..u deserve it. Patti

  5. how about your car are theywilling to pay anything to the kids? bad deal all around
