In maybe 2011 who do you think will be#1? I thought Nadal and Djokovic would be too easy of an answer.

  1. There are many including

Marin Cilic, Ernests Gulbis, Donald Young, Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Kei Nishikori, Richard Gasquet

  2. You can never say for sure.....but someone like Jo-Wilfred Tsonga....he can play pretty much all courts and he can dominate.

  3. I'd say James Blake.  Tons of Raw talent, monster serve, huge forehand, great athleticism, and the desire and work ethic to be number one.  Consistency is his biggest problem, he has to many ups and downs so if he can level out his play he has all the tools to be number 1.

  4. Sam Querrey....

    Big Serve

    Big Forhand

Decent Backhand and very young at 19

  5. ERNESTS GULBIS. Mark my words!

  6. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga...He plays the best although he is very injury prone...

  7. Gulbis .. He has all the shots .. Almost federer like ..

  8. Interesting question Ard P!!! Hmm... If it's not Nadal or Djokovic, then it's probably someone who has not really emerged on the tennis scene as of this date. However given the players who are currently active I have to agree with the above posters who said Sam Querrey and Ernest Gulbis. These are two guys who are definitely on the rise now but with so many players like them before, they tend to show a lot of promise when they first come about, and then they just either crack the top 20 and then fizzle downwards.

If I had to pick someone I would say Richard Gasquet, Thomas Berdych, Andy Murray (I believe he is going to win Wimbledon in the coming years and once that happens, he should be number one) or perhaps Juan Martin Del Portro. He has been showing a lot of promise in recent years and even though he has been having a lot of inconsistent results lately, I feel that he is just about now starting to change this and soon he will be a major threat to the top rank players.

I still feel that this potential new number one will be someone that has not really emerged on the scene as yet.

  9. Andy Murray.  If Nadal, Federer, and Djockovic weren't there he would be no. 1.

  10. Cilic,Guilbis,Del Potro,Simon,I don't know.Anyway, that aint gonna happen.Nadal and Djoker will rule tennis for the next 6 to 7 years

  11. Djokovic will be #1, book it.

  12. i think andy roddick. he is pretty good on hard courts and grass(except for this year). but he is too inconsistent...at the beginning of this year, he beat nadal and djokovic to win dubai...he played so well there and in this years wimbledon...he sucked...so im betting on him.
