Question:

Who do you think hit Riddick Bowe hardest?

We had the unique opportunity to interview Riddick Bowe last night on The Bolo Punch Boxing Hour. Beside from being an entertaining interview, we saw a side of "Big Daddy" that never seemed to come through in previous interviews. He never really had anger towards his opponents unless they made the mistake of aggravating him before the fight.

My question is: Who did Riddick Bowe claim hit him the hardest?

Bonus Question: Who does he believe HE hit harder than anyone else?

  1. I doubt Bowe would ever admit it but I think Andrew Golota hit him the hardest.   Knocked his brains out.

The reason I dont think he will admit it is because he was embarassed by the fact that he thought a big Polish whiteboy who cant box cant beat a 'badass' from the hood.

He learned the hard way that Andrew COULD box AND punch.  ITs a shame Golota kept hitting him low.  Still, and I dont care what anyone says,  In that second fight, I think Bowe took the easy way out.   He underestimated Golota the first time and paid the price.   I really dont think he was THAT badly hurt.   True its against the rules and Golota should be disqualified but Bowe was relieved because he was getting BEAT UP.

As far as who HE hit hardest?   I'd have to say that uppercut he hit Evander with probably stretched his neck a half inch.  LOL.   I give Holyfield MAD PROPS for not folding right there.  You GOTTA give him credit for heart.  He's up there with Marciano and Frazier.

  2. Larry Donald before their fight?

  3. Ok, complete guess here as I didn't get to hear the interview, I'm going with Smokin' Bert Cooper as the guy who hit him hardest, and Herbie Hide as the guy HE hit harder than anyone else.

  4. Herbie Hide hit him the hardest.

Jorge Gonzalez he hit harder than anyone else.

  5. answer to both---- holyfield in their third fight?

  6. the wbc boxing board of control  hit him the hardest ,when  they stripped him of the tittle

  7. Id say he claimed Herbie Hide hit him hardest, as he did rock Bowe a few times before going down alot of times himself.

For your Bonus question i think he hit Holyfeild harder than anyone else, Evander really did take some shots in those fights.

  8. Riddick Bowe has to go down as the greatest disappointment ever to lace up the gloves as a heavyweight.  He had all the physical tools, the perfect heavyweight physique, great height, extraordinary reach; he was mobile and relatively light on his feet.  He had good head movement.  He had the best trainer that ever lived in Eddie Futch.  He had legitimate KO power in both hands.  He demonstrated that he could possess great endurance when he trained properly.

That said, he never seemed to be focused enough on the task at hand.  He wasn't mentally into the game and the result was often fights being much tougher than they needed to be for him.  He was the living definition of bipolar.

Riddick Bowe's name could have easily been mentioned amongst the all-time greats but is now relegated to the list of all-time busts.  Too bad.  Because he really was and remains a very nice guy.
