Michael Phelps - because bolt ran hundred metres and he won't get a stitch or anything. And he ran the 200m which is double 100m that's easy for him and relay well its just quarter length where as Phelps had qualified 8 races, and which has heats and semi's and then finals, so that's like 17 races or something and then sometimes he had some back to back. and he was tired and yet still got on top. you got to respect that. no disrespect to bolt tho.

Phelps is a 14-time Olympic gold medalist.

Overall, Phelps has won 16 Olympic medals.

Phelps has 32 world records.

Phelps is the greatest Olympican ever.

I have to give it to Bolt.

I know Phelps won many more golds but Swimming has a lot more gold events than short distance tracks, so you can't just compare how many golds each person won. I mean. If there were more short distance track events like 50m, 150m, 300m, etc. I'm quite certain he would have won them as well.  

There is no arguing of who's the fastest man in the world but Phelps, although he is a great swimmer, he isn't the fastest swimmer in the world. (no 50m nor 100m freestyle)

As much as the media coverage of Michael Phelps annoys me, I would definitely go with him. I think something is a little off with Bolt; in the 100m, he was celebrating with 20m to go, pumping his arms and such. Anyone who runs the 100 knows that you have to push it every meter, that the tiniest little falter could slow you down. Either he is superhuman (the guy beat even Johnson's record) or something's up.

Well, they're clearly both at the top of their sports, and in the prime of their careers. Technically though, I have to go with Phelps. 8 gold > 3 gold.

They're both AMAZING though. Definitely Top 2 in these Olympics.
