If no one steps in,Russia will probably have an advantage over Georgian forces But if other Countries step in or pressure Russia then that might change things. I read that some say Russia did this right now that most leaders are busy with the olympics so that there wouldn't be so much intervention by other countries.

georgia.... GEORGIA IS SUPPORTED BY THE UNITED STATES.

russia is not a major EU ally and they support the ossetians that fired on georgia first. georgia retaliated and is a major united states and british ally with 2000 troops in iraq making it the third largest contributor to coalition forces.

plus they are on the other end of the caucus mountains. and they have been bidding for NATO membership.
