  1. Gen. Stiggo [Atheati-in-Chief] - Hamels will not be on short rest, they had a day off, so he will be on normal rest.

Even if the Mets were to sweep, although it would be unlikely for the Phils to come back, we all know anything is possible. Nothing is secure until the numbers prove it. I think that Hamels and Myers will pitch good games. Santana and Pelfrey will too, so I think all 3 games are toss ups. I can see the Mets winning two, but also the Phillies, so this series is really undecided. I don't see a sweep either way.

  2. The Mets hold the edge this season winning 67% of their games against the Phils (10 of 15). The games are at Shea, so I'm picking the Mets to win 2 of the 3. If Pedro pitches well in his start, the Mets have a chance to win all 3.

  3. we should win 2 of 3 and if we dont make playoffs then its ok but its not consider a collapse because mets havent had a lead bigger than 5 all season where last year the mets were in first since early season and considered a collapse.

  4. Geeze, I hope the Mets can pull it off.  I don't want to have to cry myself to sleep 3 nights in a row.....someone needs to slip the bullpen some HGH or something so they can deliver :)

  5. The Mets won't collapse like last year but they will give up the division to the Phils I think.  Their bullpen just blows too many games for them even if they can score and get great games out of the starters, Santana and Pelfrey can't go CG's every night out.

Phillies will win the series too because they've got their best three pitchers going in the series and I don't think the Mets do because Pedro pitches on of the games.

Really good pitching matchups in the series though:

    Myers vs. Pelfrey

    Martinez vs. Moyer

    Santana vs. Hamels

  6. The Mets have had the Phillies' number all year, taking 10 of 15. In addition, the Mets come in off a strong road trip against competing teams, and the Phillies come in having to play at Shea after having dropped a series to the Nats. Both teams have their rotations pretty much as they'd want them, although Hamels is going on short rest. If the Mets don't take at least two of three, I'd be quite shocked on a rational level. But, having been a Mets fan for more than 30 years, it wouldn't really surprise me at all. So, what I'm saying is, the Mets should take the series, putting themselves in good position to take the division. But will they? That's a whole different matter.

  7. Both teams are going to really score alot of runs and be a nightmare of pitching against each other.

In the end, Phillies will take it away. My guess: 2-1 Phillies for the series.

    Hope that answers.
