  3. Phil Rizzutto

    Holy Cow!

  4. Vin Scully, hands down.

Harry Carey was always great for his antics, though!

    Uekers's great!

  5. Vin Scully without a doubt is the best of all time.  However I would also put Mel Allen, (voice of the New York Yankees) right up there with him and of course Harry Kalas, (voice of the Philadelphia Phillies) as well.  Let's not forget Ernie Harwell, (voice of the Detroit Tigers) and Bob Prince, (voice of the Pittsburgh Pirates).

Vin Scully leads the pack but these remaining four announcers were absolutely great!

  6. Curt Gowdy was the best at every sport.

  7. Harry Carey.

  8. Vin Scully. No announcer knows more, is more entertaining, is less of a teamer (just rooting for the home team), is more equitable and has a better voice to listen to.

(By the way, this answer started out initially as "Vin Scully, 100%."  and Yahoo Answers would not post it.  What is wrong with these people?  Why do they feel they must block answers that their computer blips because of supposed grammar/punctuation errors?  Idiots)

  9. Undoubtedly the best stadium announcer has been Bob sheppard at yankee stadium for the last half century.

    Broadcast belongs to Bob Murphy

  10. No question, Vin Scully!

  11. I agree with Vin Scully. I just can't stand the team he announces for.

  12. Hard to say. All I know is it isn't Ron Santo.

  13. vin scully and tommy hutton

  14. vin scully of course

    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

  15. Bill King-late radio broadcaster for A's.  Always had a million terms he used.  He could probably describe a baseball with like 1000 synonyms.  Voice so recognizable everywhere.  And so much enthusiasm no matter how much meaning the game had on teh season.  Loved him.

  16. i have to say

    Bob Uecker

  17. Best is a toss-up between Vin Scully, Mel Allen and Jack Buck. I'm leaning toward Scully.

Most entertaining: Phil Rizzuto. Thanks for the memories, Scooter.

  18. Vin Scully and Curt Gowdy r my two choices

  19. I agree with several posters here. Vin Scully-Voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers. I grew up with the old school (60's, 70's) Dodgers and the transistor tuned to Vin Scully announcing the games.  He is one of the best there ever is! When I was a kid sneaking around Dodger stadium I passed both Vin Scully and (3Dog), Willie Davis in a stair well that we were not supposed to be in I'm sure. Vin said "Hi Guys",and Willie gave a nod. That was kinda cool. But regardless he does baseball announcing beautifully. Scully fan!

  20. No Doubter.

Vin Scully is amazing and a living legend.

  21. earnie harwell

  22. Jack Buck. Scully is good too.

  23. This is an easy one. Ernie Harwell for sure. I grew up listening to him paint this wonderful picture of my heroes (the Tigers). Before every game was on TV, radio was how you followed your favorite boys of summer. I heard him call no hitters, World Series victories, long home runs and even crushing defeats. Ernie is as much a Detroit Tiger as Kaline, or Cash or Trammell.

  24. Harry Carrey

  25. I agree with Vin Scully but By Saam of the Phillies was really good too.

  26. As soon as I saw this question i though Vin Scully. He always make me laugh because anybody who watches the Dodgers regularly has heard all his stories, but I love his voice!
