Who do you think is the best nascar driver ever past or present?

Best all time: David Pearson. He won almost every race he was in it seemed like, and wasn't in Cup full time very long. I think he is better than Richard Petty from old videos I have seen, and what my dad has told me before.

Best of the modern era: Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt. Jeff has more wins, Dale has more championships. I believe Jeff is slightly better in overall talent, though

Best 2005-2007: Jimmie Johnson

Best of 2008: So far it's Kyle Busch, he is well on his way to double digit wins this season.

many will say the king or the intimidator, but i think guys like cale yarborough, fireball roberts, marving panch, the allisons, pearson, and someone like tim richmond belong on that list.

Currently it's Jeff Gordon. His championships and wins so far prove it. I'm not a fan of #24, he knows how to drive.

#24 Jeff Gordon is the best of all time. He won back then, and he will still win now. The other guys had alot more opportunity to race. Richard Petty used to race 4 or 5 times a week.

david pearson , because he is 2nd all time in wins has the highest winning percentage among all drivers only ran 4 full seasons for the championships and won 3 championships . also in 1973 he ran only 18 races and won 11 of them , just my opinion but nobody has ever been better than the silver fox.
