Fedor and Silva are at the top of my list along with Faber and GSP. What do you think?

  1. Fedor.

  2. Anderson Silva then Fedor. Fedor may be the best pound for pound to tell you the truth but I just don't like heavyweights. They're slow and freakin' boring. That's why I'm picking Silva. Silva should take the LHW belt and beat up this freakin slow-moving LHW's (fighters like rampage, lidell).

  3. Pound for pound best ACTIVE fighters

    1.  Anderson Silva - Enough said

    2.  Uriajah Faber - Ask Jens Pulver if he agrees.  He does.

    3.  Georg St. Pierre - #3 seems so underrated in this category (d**n Matt Serra, d**n!), but there's no way he beats out either of the top two.

    4.  Cung Le - Before someone who only watches free SPIKE TV events tries to question why Cung Le is on this list, or who he is for that matter, figure out who he is, then watch his fights.  Just a little jump start for those of you who don't know who he is, and before all you go google him, here's some stats for you.  6-0 MMA career so far with 6 KO/TKO, 17-0 San Shou career, and 3-0 in K-1.  That is a record that can be matched by few.  You don't think he belongs in this discussion?  Ask Frank Shamrock, who Le trounced a few months back.  Le OWNED Shamrock, one of the MMA legends of our time.  Old or not, he still OWNED him.

    5.  BJ Penn - I'm not a hug fan of his, but I admire his body of work and his recent efforts.  Nobody, like him or not, should leave him off any top 5 list.

    My honorable mention:

Kenny Florian - Say what you want, he's the man.  If you take away the decision he lost against Sherk, "Kenflo" is on a 7-0 streak.  If you give the Sherk fight to Florian (as I did), he's 8-0 against a pretty good card of guys.

Fedor Emelianenko - I just don't like him as much as many do (armchair MMA fans riot now), granted, most of his defenders nowadays never heard of him until the fight with Sylvia.

Randy Couture - He will be 65 and still in the top 10 best active fighters

  4. Urijah Faber, I think.  He is absolutely amazing.

    1) Faber

    2) Silvia

    3) Fedor

  5. Fabor is not the answer. ... I know that.

Silva or Fedor ,Gsp and Randy Coutour

  6. Fedor, All due respect to Silva Fedor record speaks for him self he is undefeated (1 loss was bull **** and should've been no contest )........

  7. Silva is until proven otherwise

  8. Everyone here are brainwashed by the UFC. There  are much better fighters outside of the UFC. Fedor is the one and only fighter that has yet to be dominated. Anderson silva has lost to fighters before, most of them being Japanese fighters.

  9. (not in order....well, maybe in order)

    fedor

    anderson silva

    gsp

    rampage

  10. Right now, it is clearly Fedor.  A case can also be made for him being named the best MMA fighter of all time.  And this is not coming from someone who is just a casual viewer of Fedor.  I have been following his career for the last six years, and he has been dominant that entire time.

The biggest difference between he and Silva is the level of competition they have faced, and the weaknesses they have demonstrated over their careers.  No one has really come close to beating Fedor since 2000, with the possible exception being when Fujita briefly dazed him.  You can argue that he has not fought anyone good, but if you look over the course of his fights, he has made a career out of making the best look bad.  When he beat Nog for the Pride heavyweight belt, it came at time when Pride had by far the deepest  heavyweight pool of talent.  Since then, he has destroyed everyone he has faced.

I'm not taking anything away from Silva, but I think Fedor has the better all-around skill set.

  11. fedor

    silva

    KID yamamoto

    gsp

    penn

(in no particular order of ranking)

  12. I think the obvious ones stick out the most because the majority agrees on who the best of the best is in the world of mixed martial arts. You gotta believe that as cliché as it is, the UFC has many of the elite guys fighting for their company that the MMA world talks about on an every day basis...

You have guys like BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva, Thiago Alves, Michael Bisping, Rashad Evans, and Nate Diaz, just to name a few.

That's not to take away credit from some of the elite guys in other organizations such as Urijah Faber, Paul Filho, Brock Larson, Robbie Lawler and Nick Diaz...

Putting Fedor as one of the elite fighters in the business has been overshadowed by big names but after beating one of UFC's elite ex-heavyweight champs in 36 seconds of the 1st round is just another statement he has made in putting himself as one of the best in the business. He still has a few more fights to prove but Fedor is definately on his way up to being in the same limelight as BJ Penn, Urijah Faber, GSP, and Anderson Silva.

    But I digress...here's my top 5 right now pound-for-pound:

    1. Anderson Silva

    2. BJ Penn

    3. Urijah Faber

    4. GSP

    5. Nate Diaz

  13. 1. Fedor

And A.Silva isn't even my #2, but then again, I am not a ZUFFA fanboy. Faber isn't on the list, period. Once again, not a ZUFFA fanboy. When Silva can not get mounted by a D-level fighter like Travis Lutter, then maybe he can be on the p4p list [sorry, beating Irvin isn't a milestone, EVER], and when Faber can actually fight someone who is decent, then perhaps he could make the list. Matt Lindland would destroy the A. Silva hype in a single fight; Kid Yamamoto would knock Faber dead in less than one round. Lindland is the best Middleweight in the world, and Yamamoto is the best featherweight in the world. If you disagree, you're probably a TUF-era fanboy.
