Who do you think is the better Tennis player Ana Ivanovic or Dinara Safina?

I Think Dinara Safina is a better tennis player then Ana Ivanovic, cause i feel that, Ana Ivanovic is a one and done tennis player, where her limited skills are showing, look what happen to Ana where she got out play by a tennis player who was ranked 183 in the WTA, why because she showed she does not have the heart of a Champion

But this Dinara Safina she is the real deal, who she loves to fight and never quits in her tennis matches, also Safina has the heart of a champion, and i think she going to win the US Open. if Safina is losing she does not quit and always thinks she can win, but with Ana once you start outplaying her in match she starts to break down

So who do you think is the better tennis player between the two

And which one do you like better, or enjoy seeing more

Also some tennis fan said Ana has not reach her peak? so do you know when a tennis player reaches there peak, i thought Ana Ivanovic already passed her peak, what age does a female tennis player reach there peak

Ivanovic is a pretty good player (not everyone wins a Grand Slam, and Safina hasn't yet!), but I do agree that she is a bit overhyped, the result of too many photo shoots in a culture where it seems that a women tennis player must be pretty to be considered 'good'. However, Safina does have some advantages in several areas, and I think her silver medal in the Games proved that she has great potential! I would like to see her get a Grand Slam, because her play has merited that. I would certainly put her above Sharapova and Jankovic in terms of skill!

IVANOVIC IS THE BETTER PLAYER.

DINARA SAFINA DOESNT COME INTO THE NET AND FINISH OFF POINTS.

IVANOVIC HITS HUGE FORHANDS ANYWHERE ON THE COURT AND IS IN MY OPINION THE QUICKER OF THE TWO.

DINARA IS A GOOD PLAYER BUT SHE SEEMS TO LIKE PLAYING FROM BEHIND, AND WHEN ANA IS IN FRONT IT IS HARD TO CRAWL BACK.

I like Safina but Ivanovic's game is stronger. Ivanovic leads Safina 3-1 in their head to heads. She's beaten Safina 3 straight times on 3 different surfaces (including the most recent French Open final).

The list of people that Safina trails in head to heads is interesting. It includes Lisa Raymond, Ashley Harkleroad, Marion Bartoli (0-2), Nadia Petrova (0-5), Lucie Safarova, Milagros Sequera (the WTT player), Nicole Vaidisova, Agnes Szavay, Ai Sugiyama, Na Li, just to name a few.

A big reason why Safina's had to fight so much (even against lower ranked players) is because her game alone doesn't do damage. Ivanovic on the other hand has one of the best forehands in the game and her serve is up there among the best. She can win quick and easy points with both.

To say Ivanovic is overrated is a bit harsh. She's been ranked #1 in the world, has been in the the top 10 for most of her career, and has a grand slam title. She's one of only 7 active players with a slam title.

Ivanovic has the statistical advantage over Safina in many areas. Even though Ivanovic has struggled in the last couple of months she is still having a better year than Safina. You can look at their profiles and make a comparison.

I'm not sure if Ivanovic has hit her peak yet but I do think part of her problem recently is she's been feeling the pressure of being the #1 tennis player in the world. That kind of pressure is something that can either make or break you. Either she will get better or she will get worse. Only time will tell. Right now it's clear that even though Safina's been around longer, Ivanovic has accomplished more, including the head to head avantage over Safina.

i dont no, i think they have different styles...ana plays more, well i think more emotional and takes it to heart..cuz she will start to cry on court and stuff..but i think maybe safina could be better.i hope she gets #1 after this, right now ana cant handle being #1 it gets into her head to much..maybe later on she can handle it

honestly, I don't think either player has reached their peak. Ivanovic is only 20, which is very young. The average age of the rest of the top 8 is 24. Henin peaked at 22. Venus peaked at 21. Usually around 22 is when the player peaks.

With that said, Safina does have some weapons where I feel as if Ivanovic doesn't really have any. But she must be doing something right to have reached 3 grand slam finals, winning one.

Ana just won the French. Let's not go overboard here. I know there's a lot of parody in the women's game because no one is dominant and consistently so.

Safina looks good in my opinion and a ladie's skills should not be judged on looks. She's got game but anyone can win in the women's game right now. Justine was really the only really dominant womens player and when she left the field became more open. With the men we can say "ight, Nadal and Federer will make the finals or even Novak", but with the women you can pick just about anyone and someone may make it who you never knew about. That's the parody.

As of now, I would have to say Safina because results speak for itself. She has won the titles and has beaten the top players as well. Meanwhile, Ivanovic (although ranked #1) has had the result of a player just starting at the pro level-her win/loss record since winning the French is 4/3.

I also feel the same that somehow Ana is overrated (not in terms of skill but in terms of mental strength). One very good example is this year's Australian Open final against Sharapova. Other mentally strong players like Serena or Henin in the same circumstance of leading 30-0 on Maria's serve would never attempt such a dismal drop shot and perhaps would've broken the serve!

The difference now is that Ana doesn't USE what she has while Safina has done exactly the opposite.

Safina is amazing and has climbed up the rankings so much in the past year. She played awesome at the french open. Ivanovic is overrated, she doesn't do very well in slams (besides her french open win). She is inconsistent in her results and does not deserve to be ranked #1. Safina is much better.
