  1. Joey Dunlop

  2. Foggy, but its almost impossible to answer really.

To many greats, current and past.

  3. C'mon! It has to Be The most famous number 7, Barry Sheen! Afterall they did manage to rebuild him after he totally smashed up himself racing.

No one else even comes close in racing, and he was pretty much a god off the track too!

Check this DVD of his life -

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN...

    or this book

  4. Most young race fans will tell you Valentino Rossi and indeed, he really impresses the h**l out of me!

However, don't forget about Mike Hailwood, Geoff Duke, Giacomo Agostini, John Surtees, Barry Sheen and all those other guys who were all labelled the greatest ( in their time) but who are now legends.

The names of the greatest will maybe change from one era to another as bikes get faster or formulas (ii ?) change.

(and the riders get younger ..or am I getting older?)

Being the greatest is short lived. Being a legend is forever!

They will all go down as the greatest in my book!

  5. FREDDIE,KENNY SR,MIKE HAILWOOD,BARRY SHEEN,EDDIE,WAYNE,KEVIN.................... AND ON!

    OH YA,SCOTT RUSSEL,COLIN EDWARDS.......ON AND ON.......

  6. I think Barry Sheene - he was the coolest thing on two legs (and a handful of nuts, bolts plates etc.) and he was in racing at a time when it seemed to explode into the mainstream and everybody wanted to be like him!

I've gotta say though that I love to see old TT and race footage where you have these fella's running (!) to start the bike, no real safety gear, little in the way of back up or crew - and they pushed those bikes (sometimes literally pushed them for miles!) and them selves to the limit!

So maybe Agostini or Surtees for the old boys.

Has to be Valentino in the current crop.

  7. If your talking about motocross, either ricky carmichael or james stewart, in my opinion

  8. Of all time ?

Giacomo Agostini or Mike "the bike " Hailwood got to be on that list somewhere.

Barry Sheen was pretty good as well

  9. no, 7

    end of story

  10. Carl Fogarty was one of the best :)

  11. barry sheen

  12. Well, I've been watching for not so long so the riders that I know are not so many... From the little that I've seen... I have to say Rossi :) If I knew other riders I would probably say that they are many :) Still... for the races that I've witnessed he proved as a great rider. I downloaded even some old races of his, so that's way my choice is... Vale :}

  13. Griffter?

    Or is that Griffta?

    ****** if I know.

  14. The late great Joey Dunlop would have to be near the top. He could race in a number of classes during TT weeks and get a podium almost every time and on street circuits at that.

Many of the other names already mentioned were great but not many would ride street circuits.

Of today's racers The Doctor is in a class of his own and will always provide entertainment for the fans.

  15. Agostini.

  16. why not he's current

  17. Vale is amzing on a bike and there are few who could run with him when he is on form. There are however a few absolute legends. My list would run as follows -

    1) "Ya Maun" Joey Dunlop, legend both on and off the track

    2) "7" Bazza Sheene, a great character and a mand who spoke his mind at all times

    3) "Mighty Mick" Mick Doohan completly untouchable for years when the bikes were at their fiercest and more metal in him than the bionic man and Bazza

    4) "The Doctor" he is the ultimate at the moment and may be only the second man to become world champ on both 2 and 4 wheels.

    5) Carl Fogerty , the greatest WSB rider in history when it was most competitive
