Are you serious?? Nobody put De La Hoya. Just because you see somebody more doesnt mean they are more popular. Manny P?? Ask people who dont watch boxing who the h**l he is and see what your answer will be. I dont know him.

De La Hoya has been the most popular boxer ever since 2000. Anytime you can stop fighting for 3 years, then come back w/o a tune up fight and jump rite back into PPV status, you are popular. Im talking about the fight with the Pretty Boy. His fight had the most PPV buys and made the most money in boxing history and that was after a 3 year layoff.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. no doubt is the most liked but defiantly not the best. The eastern european heavyweigts are dominating. Wladmir Klitchiko is probaly the best boxer today.

I would say the people like Oscar De La Hoya for his clean image & he was a former olympic participant.  

Me it would be Floyd Mayweather Jr or Manny Paciaou or Roy Jones Jr.   All these guys bring it to the table & Floyd may talk alot but he backs it up.

Wow floyd mayaweather is no where close the most liked boxer today, he fought in las vegas his hometown in his last three fights and everytime the other guy was getting cheered more than floyd.  Most ppl buy the fight cus they wanna c him get knocked out.  But the most popular and like boxer today i think could be manny but in america the most popular could still be oscar de la hoya, he is the biggest star from america in a long time.  Another popular fighter but only in the midwest and some parts around the country is Kelly Pavlik, but basically only those two

Clearly in North America anyway allusianmskjr & Big E nailed it with DeLa Hoya.  Outside the U.S. the shift is to Pacquiao in Asia and the Welshman in Europe Joe Calzaghe.  If you are speaking of world wide recognition it is without a doubt Muhammad Ali, and it will be Ali until God takes the man from us, Ali is the most revered athlete since Joe Louis.  Of modern fighters the Klitscho's and Roy Jones Jr. get honorable mentions, but for global recognition, Ali is still the "Greatest".

ask anyone, even non-boxing fans, to name any boxe.. and everyone will either say Oscar or Tyson..

But since u said liked, and everyone dislikes Tyson for his mistakes... that spot goes to De La Hoya.. the guy breaks all kinds of records. Floyd got famous cause he beat Oscar. Shane got famouse cause he beat Oscar. Hopkins... you get the point.. All these fighters have had great help getting recognized for sharing the ring with the Golden Boy... Not to mention he has sold more PPV than anyone else and gets paid like $40 million every fight
