Underratted- Placido Polanco or Dustin Pedroia(Kids a straight ball-player very fun to watch) both are dangerous hitters and great defenders that not a lot of people realize their importance to there team.

  1. Overrated - Ryan Howard

Underrated - Ryan Theriot and Mark DeRosa

  2. over rated alex rodrigeze that dude suck him and jeter both.  a rod will hit double play balls in his sleep.  i mean this guy is horrible.  most underrated would probly be dustin pedria.  this kid is small then but he packs some power in his swing.  he just hit a homerun out of the green monster that would have been out of the park if it wasnt for that billboard.  so there you go the cold hard facts of this question.

  3. over rated A-rod chokes in playoffs and big games

under rated Carlos Delgado he has the most homeruns since June playing like a MVP right now after a slow start

  4. Overrated.  Definitely Jeter only because there are a TON of Yankee fans here and some of them put him in the top 10 players of all time, they say he is excellent defensively, it's just blind.

To me, it's VERY hard to be underrated in Boston, NY or LA.

Zack Greinke is underrated.  On a .500 team, he wins 16 games.

    James Shields, underrated.

Polanco I can see being underrated as well.

Basically, very good player, low fans could be a candidate.

  5. Nick Markakis is pretty good.  Since he's on the glorious Orioles he gets no national press.

I think Josh Hamilton is overrated.

  6. Overrated: David Ortiz

    Underrated: Grady Sizemore

  7. Jeter is not overrated you jealous bum.

  8. Overrated - Tim Wakefield, everyone always says his knuckleball is impossible to hit...seems like it's not that hard afterall. (8-9, 4.00 ERA with a team 25 games above .500)

Underrated - Agreed, Pedroia. Possible AL MVP candidate this year. Grady Sizemore as well. Same style of player as Pedroia.

  9. How is Pedroia underrated??? He's in his 2nd season... on the most popular team.

He was voted Rookie of the Year last year by the media... so they are paying attention.

He was voted to start the All-Star game by the fans... so they are paying attention.

    Who is under-rating him?

  10. Underrated: Justin Morneau- This guy is an amazing ball player, but somehow doesn't get as much attention as the other top tier players. He is only 27 years old and has had a remarkable early career. He has averaged 30 HRs, 105 RBI's, and a .300+ average over the last 4 years, and is not slowing down in the least. Not to mention, the guy is a phenomenal fielder. He has a .995 fielding percentage in his career, due to only averaging about 6 errors per year. He is also a former MVP and home run derby champion. You would think that a guy with that rep would get a ton of attention in the baseball world, yet somehow he doesn't. It's a shame.

Overrated: Prince Fielder- Now don't get me wrong, the guy can crush a baseball. However, that is all he can do. He can average about 35 HR's per year, yet only hit .265 and hit in about 95 RBI's. He is also pretty bad in the field averaging about 14 errors per year. Another thing is, he isn't mobile. He can't run, dive, slide, or jump like any normal MLB player. Like I said, the guy can lay his 270 lbs frame into a baseball, but thats where it stops. The main thing about him though, is that he just attracts too much attention in my opinion. He doesn't deserve the spot light near as much as guys like Justin Morneau, Dustin Pedroia, or even Placido Polanco. I just think he is too overrated.

  11. Overrated- Kevin Youkilis

Underated- Ian Kinsler or Mark Derosa

  12. how i knew ppl were going to say derek jeter and a-rod

just cuz he hasnt been clutch in the past doesnt mean hez overrated and sooner or later a great player cant struggle in those situations

Since 1996, his first full season, through 2007 he leads Major League Baseball in home runs (HR), runs scored, runs batted in (RBI), total bases and extra-base hits. He is currently first in runs scored and total bases; second in extra base hits and RBI, and 4th in hits among all players in baseball history prior to their 31st birthday. In addition, to this point in his career Rodriguez has more HR, RBI, runs scored and more base hits than all-time leaders Hank Aaron (RBI), Barry Bonds (HR), Rickey Henderson (runs scored), and Pete Rose (hits) did prior to their 31st birthdays. He is the youngest player ever to hit 500 home runs, breaking the record Jimmie Foxx set in 1939. He is also the youngest player in Major League history to hit for the cycle at 21 years old.

He has been cited as among the best all-around players currently in baseball.[1]

  13. overrated - Alex Rodriguez - There is no doubt he is a hall of famer. But until he can start putting consistent seasons together again people need to stop saying he is the best player in baseball. He not even the best hitter.

Underrated - Cliff Lee or Dustin Pedroia.

Lee:He had a horrible season last year. So that makes this season and what he is doing even more great. Especial with the Indians doing so poorly.

Pedroia : He is great presents in the Red Sox clubhouse. I think he gets his team pumped just off of his energy. He has had an MVP type year for Boston. (He has probably got every Red Sox fan saying "Manny Who?".)

  14. overrated- Arod

    Underrated- Carlos Lee

  15. You can't really say that ARod is the most overrated anymore, people everywhere are down on him.  Josh Hamilton is good, but not as dominating as he had shown in the first half, I'll go with him.

Underrated?  Pedroia, but that will soon change.

  16. Over Rated:  Jake Peavy.  If he is so great, why can't he get his team to a winning record

Under Rated:  Roy Hallady.  He goes at least 8 innings almost every time.  And he rarely gives up more than 3 runs.  He never gets any run support is his problem

  17. Overrated- Arod

Underrated- pedroia is not underrated.... Justin Morneau

  18. Overrated-Kosuke Fukudome

    Underrated-Jermaine Dye

  19. Over-rated: A-Rod

Under-rated: Joe Mauer (I just don't think he gets the credit he deserves, he just gets put on the same level as Morneau)
