I would probably say Alexis Arguello. Ray Leonard is probably a nice person, but manipulative as well.

In my honest opinion and out of all the years I've watched boxing, I would have to say the nicest and classiest boxer of them all was Alexis Arguerllo.  He was always humble in victory and gracious in defeat (which wasn't too often) and always gave his opponenet credit and respect.  Outside of the ring, he was looked up to and admired by his countrymen and all over.  Class and dignity personified.

the nicest boxer is that guy who never won a fight and instead of being the undisputed champion he is the undisputed chump. no such thing as a nice boxer. nice people don't beat each other up for a living.

I agree Sugar Ray Leonard comes across as a truly great person, some others who i think are nice people are Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Shane Mosley and Joe Calzaghe all of them leave the trash talking behind and act as real gents 100% of the time and are also very humble about their achievements in the ring. My personal favourite though would be Ricky Hatton, for someone who is an animal in the ring, outside of it he is one of the nicest blokes you could ever wish to meet, a real down to earth family man.
