  1. Minnesota Fats was probably the most well known, but the best was definitely Willie Mosconi.  1st person w/ this answer deserves the 10 points.

Steve Mizerak was also very good.  Not quite on par with MOsconi though.

  2. Minnesota Fats.

  3. From what I've read, Mosconi is one of the best, from the ones I've seen with my own eyes, Mizerak.  He turned pro at the age of 13.  He used to come into the pool hall I hung around as a teen, I would often watch him play against Allen Hopkins, Mizerack often getting the best of him, at straight pool, one-pocket, whatever the game.  I also had the pleasure of shooting against his step son Matt quite frequently, who was a good shot in his own right.

  4. Depending on the game for cash or tourament ,14-1 - Mosconi ,or Greenleaf, for cash -Lassiter  . 9-ball for cash - Taylor ,Segall , Hall . tourament - Segall  , Strickland . One pocket - Mathews .Other games have thier own also.  We are talking  - all time greats - not currents , but in time who knows, maybe they will also shine.

  5. I have to go with Willie Mosconi as well.

Luthar Lassitar was a tough player.

Keep an eye out for a new player by the name of Shane Vanboening. He is 24 and winning some major titles in the last 6 months or so. Shane is from South Dakota and we will be seeing more of him.

I hear he took Earl Strickland and Corey Duel for some large cash. He played them seperately.

  6. I don't know of any top pool players.

The library book that I read on snooker--- mentioned Eddy Charlton as a great player.

  7. F. Bustamante in my opinion is the best player in the world right now all time maybe between Mosconi and Bustamante would be a h**l of a match to watch.also depending on the game Cliff Joiner is the best one-pocket player i have ever seen.so many different types of games and different skills accompany each so its really hard to name just one for best of all time if not impossible

  8. My vote also goes to Mosconi but I want to clear up an error from eightbra... ' s answer.  Mosconi played when 8 foot tables were regulation and the pockets were an inch wider.  Still, you try knockin in 526 balls in a row even with the modifications, pretty amazing.

  9. Willie   Mosconi    should   be   a   contender   as    should   Reyes,   Mizerak,    and    Archer.    They   are    many   great   pool    players     but    these   guys   would   top   my   list.

  10. I only know modern ones but I like Earl Strickland, if only for his attitude problems, but have you ever seen Steve Davis play pool he knows so many trick shots he's a masterpiece at the sport but he still doesn't win lol

  11. we love u davis we do

we love u davis we do

we love u davis we do

    davis we love u

  12. My vote for best of all time would have to go to Willie Mosconi. The man was 15 time world champion. He played back in the day when straight pool was the game.A much harder game than 9 ball , which is what they play today. He also played on 10 foot tables for most of his career and under conditions that would be unacceptable today. A lot of people say that the old time players couldn't compete with the stars of today but I beg to differ. I think if you could bring those players from Willies era , while in their prime, back to compete with todays players they would flourish. With the quality of todays equipment and playing the game of nine ball I know they would be right in the mix.
