  1. There are a lot of good "break cues" on the market.  Jacoby makes a good one, Predator (which is way over priced) makes a good one,  Omega BJ pretty good.  I myself use a players sneaky pete with a phenolic tip and can hit it like a sledge hammer.  My personal preference is to have a lighter cue for breaking and shooting.  I can generate a lot more speed coming threw my break which is what you want.  The only way a heavier cue is going to help you is if you have the power to generate the speed.  Just like hitting a home run, it all about the bat speed+power.  Good luck and keep rackn em up!

  2. The best break cue made is the Predator BK2, period. It is harder hitting and easier to control than any other break cue on the market. And if you don't believe me, check out it's rating on Platinum Billiards' website. It is not cheap though at $300, but if you want the best, you have to pay for it. (BTW, there are plenty of $300 break cues that are far inferior to the BK2, so the price is not really out of line at all).

Another break cue that is a very good value is the Falcon j/b. It is a jump/break combination cue, and breaks very hard compared to some of the expensive break cues on the market although it's only about $150.

The best "bang for you buck" break cue in my opinion is the Kaiser j/b. It breaks very hard, and will only run you about $70. Do a search for them on ebay, and you'll find them at CJs Billiards ebay store.

  3. I would suggest a 21 ounce McDermott cue. You should be able to pick one up at a local pool room or have them order one for $100, give or take.

  4. Any cue other than a Wal Mart special will be a good cue....the weight is up too you I use to be one of the crowd who always had a 21oz break cue then I read an article about using a 15oz cue and that it was better because of the speed you pick up stroking a lighter stick and then I was watching a match and I cant remember who was playing but for some reason I think it was Bustamente and they said he used a 15oz break cue ....so I figured I try it....I found that my break improved It had more snap to it. Needless to say Ill always use a light stick. Oh by the way I use a Players cue for my break stick...It was less then 80 bucks and I have no complaints from it. Try both weights and see which works for you and decide from there.
