Question:

Who do you think really won in the Marquez-Pacquiao fight?

When I watched the fight, I really thought that Marquez won, though it was indeed a close fight. Here in Yahoo, the unofficial scorecard is 115-112 for Marquez. I was really surprised that Pacquiao was announced the winner.

Do you think Pacquiao deserved to win? Or was it Marquez who really should have won?

  1. WE all know marquez won the fight,

  2. Marquez won...he won more rounds than pac man, isnt that what it takes to win a boxing match? points...that fight was stolen, even the crowd in the Mandalay bay was upset, clear boooing....there might be i 3rd one, but idk....

  3. aside from that jab ending the 2nd round, marquez did't done anything at all to harm pac after that. he was consistent on hitting those pin-point punches from anywhere but pac would simply shave it away and come back. intensity-wise, pac clearly won it, but then again, the score is too close to call. the ko really betrayed marquez that fight.

  4. if you get KNOCK OUT you LOSS..

2004, 3 times KO.. the role is 3 KO, is LOSS..

    2008, 1 KO..

    so PACMAN WIN....

  5. I know that marquez should have won the fight.. but remember the 1st fight between them? it was declared a draw.. after a few weeks, the judge admitted that he commited a mistake of the scoring.. pacquiao should had won the first encounter.. now, marquez should have won and they gave the match to pacquiao.. in my opinion, scorecards isn't the right way to determine a fight. Boxers train hard in order to win matches.. everyone targets a KO.. all you want to do is to finish your opponent that's why you train..right???

  6. The fight was so close, there is no way either side could say, for sure, they had clearly won this one.   Being that close, I am not surprised to see it be a split decision.  I had it going 6 rounds to 6 rounds.  But, with the mandatory point deduction for Pacquio's clean knockdown, it really had to go to him.

Also, note that, at the end of that knockdown round, Marquez was getting worked and was about to go down again.  He was holding himself up with the ropes (Which should be called another knockdown).  If it was, there would then be no doubt.

Both fighters are great.  Pacquaio just by a hair.

After Marquez opened a cut on Manny's leading right eye, he should have finished him.  The fight was in his hands, but he did not do enough to finish him.

Funny how Marquez was giving credit to his cut from a headbutt.  The initial cut was from an accidental butt, but Pacquio clearly opened up a 2nd, distinct, new cut with a solid left.

Also, for Marquez, his camp, and his fans to say the crowd was booing and thought the decision was wrong.....   If Marquez had won, the other half of the crowd would have booed and Pacquiao probably would have said he was cheated.  Bottom line, if you want to say you really won the fight, you need to knock your opponent out.  If you didn't, or if you didn't even knock him down, you have allowed this fight to get into the hands of the judges.  Accept it!

  7. Judging on the 113-114 scorecard, the judge was seeing that if Marquez knocked Pacquiao down then it would have made a difference. Simple as that. Good Job by both fighters.

  8. I thought it was gonna be another draw to be honest. Another knockout, another decision.

  9. WHO WAS KNOCKED DOWN?? MARQUEZ! THEN MANNY FOR SURE WON THE FIGHT..WHY DONT PEOPLE JUZ ACCEPT THE FACT THAT MANNY WON BECAUSE HE'S A SPEEDY AND ONE OF THE GREATEST FEATHER WEIGHT..WE FILIPINOS R PROUD OF HIM!! GO MANNY!!

  10. For a champion, you can't live by counterpunching alone. You gotta fight like a champ.

Pacman is a true champ. Worth every penny. That is why everyone pays to see him fight. All fighters want to fight Manny because they know even if they lose, the money would compensate for their loss. All these fighters will get their biggest payday when they fight Manny. That is the caliber of Manny Pacquiao.

Marquez lost, that will be his biggest payday. But just like four years ago, nobody will fight him anymore. He won't get the fights that he want and won't get the money that he likes. That's why he is crying for a rematch. But he won't get it. There's no more money there. He will again fight for $30,000 to another fighter and lose. Manny will continue to generate popularity and can get any fight that he wants. Manny will continue to rise and Marquez just like Morales and Barrera will fade away.

4 knockdowns in 24 rounds. Marquez couldn't even rattle Pacquiao. You get floored, then cannot floor the other one, you lose. In a fight as close as this, you need to show superiority, PACMAN showed it and Marquez didn't. All he showed was a badly (b rutally) beaten face that was caused by so many power punches.

Everybody knows, for Marquez to win against Pacquiao, he has to KO the guy. He couldn't even manage to knock down Manny. In close fight, that is all that matters. Pacquiao made him kiss the canvas 4 times and probably even more. That to me is crucial. Think about it. How can you gift Marquez the fight when the rounds are almost even. Each round could have gone the other way. But you get knocked down and get rattled a few times and brutally beaten, don't expect to win. The least you could expect is a draw just like the last one. Lucky Marquez got a draw the last time. Had the judge scored the 1st fight correctly in the 1st round, Pacquiao would have won and this fight would have not happened.

You cannot say its unfair when you did not dominate the guy, get floored, get brutally beaten and ask that you should have won. He's lucky the 2nd time around not to have been knocked out! Yes skillful but still knocked down so many times. So a minus on the skills and chin there.

Man, common sense is all you need. Don't be a sore loser. Everybody hates a sore loser. You won't get any fights if you are. You'll only look stupid coz whatever you do, you lost and the belt is gone. No amount of support or belief would bring that back to you.

If you just accept it LIKE A MAN, then you may come out a winner as you might get some more big fights under your belt. Being a moaner, won't get you anywhere. If you do, then this is the end of the line for you.

BUSINESS is OVER!!!! Plain and simple.

  11. Many says it was kind of unfair. But I heard that marquez want a third one

  12. He deserved that win. he got 1 power punch and so many jab punches.....  plus he is a good comedian.

  13. Either way I will be happy..The fight was so close  and pretty even but the Knockdown may have determined who the winner will be..I really enjoyed the nailbiting fight that I have been cheering all the time for these two great fighters..probably this is one of the best fights of these two great warriors..By points both player are pretty even but the way how the battle was fought..I think Pacquiao is the winner..

  14. i thought pac man won the fight. he wouldve knocked marquez down twice if he didnt grab the rope to help him out.  it was a good fight though i like the lower weight class fights they dont stop swinging. the heavyweights do all that hugging. i think the ref did a horrible job also he was too involved in the fight. i think when he stopped the fight twice to have marquez eye checked might have hurt his chances.

  15. I don't understand why some people don't get it. It was Marquez who made love to the canvass and it was THE PROUD Marquez  whose FACE WAS MORE BEATEN UP. He did all he could to topple Pacquiao but no can do. He tried his very best power punches to knockdown Pacquiao but Pacquiao also hit him back hard.

Knockdowns do count for me. And the knockdown that did Marquez was no lucky punch. Although in later rounds he pummeled Pacquiao but Pacquiao also retaliated hard and did his best to counter these punches and in the end was STILL STANDING. So  Marquez'  'power' punches were clearly NOT powerful enough to stop Pacquaio.

So who won? Step back and THINK. THINK CLEARLY. JUST LET IT SINK IN. FORGET THE MEXICAN-FILIPINO WAR THING. Then slowly you'll understand why Pacquiao won that show albeit a very very close one.

  16. Pacquiao. How could JMM have won that fight?  115-112 based on what? The only thing he was consistent at throughout the fight was the act of being inconsistent itself. Pacquiao was better all night, as JMM showed he couldn't do anything with him.

  17. i scored it a draw , however, i scored 3 rounds even, which could have gone either way.

  18. I THOUGHT MARQUEZ WON THE FINAL ROUND BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY PACQUIAO WHO WON SO IT WAS CLOSE BUT WOO PAC man wins wat a fight

  19. easy, pacman won.

all you gotta do is compare their faces.

  20. It was a close fight and could go either way.

There are so many close rounds but there are rounds that clearly belongs to Marquez(2,5,6,7) and rounds Clearly belongs to Pacquiao(3,9,10) the rest could go Either way.

I am happy Pacquiao was announce as a winner because I am a Fan.

But I think the Clear winner in that fight are the Fans. It was an Awesome fight these 2 are really made for Each other.

They should have a 3rd Fight this Business is not Finished!

  21. I wanted Pacquiao to win but let's face Marquez should have won the game. I really thought Marquez would win, I think Pacquiao himself thought he would lose. Anyway nothing is fair in these things. Last time Pacquiao also should have won and he didn't. But yeah definitely Marquez should have won. Many have the same opinion as I

  22. look pac-man won and most likely there will be a third one. because i ave my doubt's and so does marquez. so a third one  will take place unless manny denies it

  23. The way I see it, Marquez had to win by a ko. I don't really see Marquez getting a decision over the popularity of Pacquiao.

I saw Marquez winning a close, but sort of clear win. Marquez landed some really good shots and so did Pacquiao. Did Pacquiao deserved to win? I'll say   NO. To me and to many people Marquez won.
