I freely admit I am addicted to online auctions. I spend about $400- $1,500 dollars a week on things I could probably live without. We can afford it, so I don't really give it much thought.

I'm curious who, in you're opinion spends more, men or women, feminsts or anti feminists, SAHM or career women? Give examples from you're life and people you know.

  1. I spend more than my husband because I'm addicted to comic books.  I spend about $30 each week on my fix.  Then I take them home and he reads them.

  2. in my house its men

  3. I would say if there is little money to go around women spend more seen as how they can buy endlessly stuff they dont need :p. If there is a lot of money going then men get interested buying Ferraris expensive clothing that stereo with top scores. Just look at the hollywood divas collecting cars and travolta buying a 747 because he has always wanted to be a pilot.

  4. Women account for 75% of all consumers purchases.

So women of course. Just take a walk to a shopping mall, look around and figure it out yourself. This is a no-brainer.

    Lizard King

  5. I can only speak for myself, but I have very few guilty indulgences.(Victoria's Secret addiction lol)  I always spend carefully so that I can continue to stay at home with my children.  I also never wanted to cause my husband to have to worry or work harder than necessary to keep up with my spending.

  6. The rich, regardless of gender.

People like to buy things that hint not-so-subtly at the amount of income they have, predominant among them a house and cars that consume most of their budget.

So, the richer you are, the more money you tend to spend.

Of course, people find various ways to dispose of their income.  People might spend on more on luxury items, or travel, or real estate, or investments, or even charity, depending on their tastes.  But very few people just let it build up in a bank account indefinitely any more.

  7. In our family, I would say that I probably spend more money on myself than my husband does on himself.  About the only non-essential things he busy for himself are metal and screws and stuff for his workshop and the occasion tool.  The iniitial outlay on having his workshop built and the machines to use in it cost quite a lot, but they last for years, whereas I am constantly spending money on books, bath things, Barbies, and buying games and toys for the children.  if you added up the cost on what he spends on himself with what I spend on myself, I think I spend more overall.

I can't afford to spend as much as you can, unfortunately, but I probably would if I could afford it!

  8. Since 90 percent of marketting targets women as their demographic, not men, what do you think ?

  9. I'm addicted to Bath & bodyworks, perfume, shoes and unmentionables.

My ex was addicted to meth.

I think he spent wayyyy more.

I think though in general women spend less because we are always looking for a good sale. Most men i know just grab stuff off the shelf and dont bother looking at price.

  10. I don't know enough about the shopping habits of the people in these categories to give an accurate answer. But I'll answer for myself. I spend most of my money on food, and the rest goes to the occasional garment or book. And even then, I only spend about a sixth of what I earn, if that.

I will also say that the people who tend to spend the most money on c**p are the ones with the least focus in life.

  11. Between the femminists and ALL the rest of the categories you mentioned put together, the rest will spend more.

  12. Well I don't know about other people but in my personal life the men spend WAY more money. Cars, iphone, expensive stereos, home theatre systems, leather jackets, etc.  Everything they buy also seems to be very ostentatious. I guess they have the need to show off their man toys to everyone.

I have a few weaknesses(shoes, lingerie, Bath & Body works) and I can generally spend a large amount of money when I go shopping for these things but I do that on a rare occasion and don't spend nearly as much as my husband or brothers.

  13. I know very few guys who recreationally shop, so if you are referring to wasteful, non-essential shopping ,I'd say women.
