Personally I prefer the Joker from the Batman Animated series. Mark Hamil's version was WAY better written and they did more in one 20 minute episode then ANY of those 2 1/2 hour live action movie versions.

And Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker the unedited version was the best Batman movie. It even explains what happened to one of the Robins.

Heath Ledger, no doubt. He really prepared for the part. He didn't play the Joker, he WAS the joker.

I personally liked heath's rendition better, one of my friends at the begging of the film had already made up his mind that there was no way that he was going to do a good a job as jack. As we were walking out though he said "Wow....that was really good". If i remember right jack played him as a lunatic and it was almost cartoon like, kind like the comics. Heath played a more realistic one, he was just a psychopath.

Well I never really watched the one with jack in it, so I cant judge his performance. But I did really love Heath.

The Joker in the Dark Knight was a very dark character. All though they were both great as the joker, they were such different roles. Its really hard to compare.

Mark Hamill, voice of the joker in the cartoons.  His laughter is nice and demented, the way the Joker's should be;
