Who do you think was the best British monarch and why?

I don't know who was the best, but Queen Elizabeth I was certainly one of the most interesting.  She inherited the throne at a time of religious and social upheavel in England, she managed to rule the country for 44 years in spite of her s*x, and she was England's first successful female ruler.  Her strong personality and her many flirtations with marriage (though she never took the plunge) make her personal life equally as fascinating as her public life.  I would not necessarily say she was england's best monarch, but I do think she was probably our most fascinating.

AD 60 or 61 ) was a queen of the Iceni tribe of East Anglia who led an uprising of the tribes against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire. Three Roman cities destroyed, between seventy and eighty thousand people are said to have been killed.

If you mean monarch of Britain that would be from 1603 and the choice is not great . Would go for Victoria . If you mean a monarch of either England or Scotland would have to be Robert l .

Well, there was a BBC programme a few years ago where the public voted in to choose who was the greatest ever Briton and Queen Elizabeth 1st came out as the highest scoring royal. (Winston Churchill topped the poll btw)
