"Although Federer is favored to hold on to the No. 1 ranking after Wimbledon, Nadal and Djokovic have an opportunity to overtake the Swiss star. Federer will retain No. 1 if he reaches the quarterfinals. If Federer fails to reach the quarterfinals and Nadal wins Wimbledon, the Spaniard will take over No. 1. If Federer loses in the first round and Djokovic wins the title, the Serb will rank No. 1."

  1. FedEx

  2. gonzalez

  3. No, they cannot take over the #1 spot. No one can. Roger, unfortunately, will still be #1 in the world because of his points, win or lose the tournament. Even if he loses the US Open, he'll still be #1.

  4. federer

  5. Roger will still be #1. But i reckon Nadal will win wimbledon beating Federer in the final.

  6. federer will be.-

cause neither of those three will win wimbly, andy roddick will, and fed will continue being number 1.-

  7. As much as a lot of Nadal and Djokovic fans would love for it to happen, I would bet everything aside from my life that Federer will at least reach the quarters.  First off, I still don't buy into all the hype that Rafa will take him in the final this year.  A lot still could be told by the draw, after all, Nadal having to go through Djokovic first could tire the Spaniard, although Nadal has never shown himself to be capable of fatigue before.  Djokovic is an outstanding player but I still think his time hasn't come.  I'm going to avoid going into a 5 paragraph ramble and forfeit my chance at "Best Answer" probably and just say outright that I would be SHOCKED if Federer did not at least reach the quarters and retain the No.1.  I'm still picking the Fed-Express to win the entire thing, so obviously I'd be shocked if he couldn't even get close.

  8. Federer will keep the #1 spot. He won't lose in the first round, therefore Djokovic won't get the top spot. Nadal I think has a good shot at going to the semis or even the final again, but it depends on his draw. Overall, Federer is going to win Wimbledon, keep the #1 ranking, and this tournament will be a turning point for him this season and he will have a great second half to the season.
