  1. Manny Ramirez. Oh yeah, I forgot he is now wearing Dodga' Blue. He does have some pretty good statistics this season though.

  2. Dustin Pedroia, i mean his second season and hes just doing fantastic!

  3. Justin Morneau...but I'm biased since he's from Vancouver.

  4. It will Fransisco Rodriguez hands down.  with his over 57 saves that he will have and breaking the record that is going to make him win.  if he wasn't gonna win it then it would be mike avilies.  he has done so good for the royals.  and if neither of them were to get it it would be pedrioa.

but k rod will take it no question about it.

  5. Dustin Pedroia

  6. It will be K Rod with about 60 saves. It should be Youkilis who has played three different positions and helped the Red Sox win the wild card despite lots of nagging injuries...he will hit .300, drive in 100+, and hit 20-25 HR's, while playing great defense. But, K Rod will win it.

  7. Well, it is quite a debate at this point. I have it down to four at this point, and here is my argument:

    Dustin Pedroia: 110 runs, 191 hits, 17 HR, 76 RBI's, 41 BB, 47 K's, 17 SB, .333 average, .378 OBP, .505 SLG, .883 OPS (team record: 82-57)

    Justin Morneau: 85 runs, 165 hits, 21 HR, 109 RBI's, 69 BB, 71 K's, 0 SB, .313 average, .390 OBP, .519 SLG, .909 OPS (team record: 77-62)

    Carlos Quentin: 96 runs, 138 hits, 36 HR, 100 RBI's, 66 BB, 80 K's, 7 SB, .288 average, .394 OBP, .571 SLG, .965 OPS (team record: 78-61)

    Grady Sizemore: 85 runs, 146 hits, 31 HR, 84 RBI's, 89 BB, 108 K's, 35 SB, .273 average, .385 OBP, .525 SLG, .910 OPS (team record: 67-71)

They all have different aspects that really stick out. Quentin has the power, Sizemore has the 30 HR 30 SB thing, Morneau has the consistency factor, while Pedroia is the all around man. Next thing it comes down to is leading the team. Sizemore is the only one who doesn't have a winning record, and he doesn't even stick out on his team as much as fellow teammate Cliff Lee. So I think he gets cut there unfortunately. Quentin is more of a silent leader and shows up, but his average is down. Morneau is a little overshadowed by Mauer and doesn't get much spotlight, while Pedroia is the clear cut leader on a squad with Big Papi, Kevin Youkilis, Jason Bay, Dice K, and Papelbon. Plus, he is a small 5-9 180 lb frame, yet he can still lay into a ball. His team is also supporting the best record out of the bunch, and is the only one who is nearly guaranteed a playoff spot. He is also one of the best defenders of the group, although they're all solid outside of Quentin. All in all, little Dustin deserves the AL MVP in my estimation. He has the average, power, speed, patience at the plate (only 47 Ks), fielding, leadership, and best team record. Not to mention, he leads the AL in hits, runs, average, is second in doubles, and is tops in strikeouts against him as well. The guy has just been dominating. For all of these reasons, Pedroia takes my vote for AL Most Valuable Player!

  8. Someone not named A-Rod

  9. Wow!  This question gets asked everyday and I think this is the first time I haven't seen somebody mention Josh Hamilton.  Perhaps people are starting to wise up.

I think right now Carlos Quentin has to be the front runner.  Morneau and Pedroia will get some consideration.  After that you'll have the Youklis', Hamilton's, Dye's, K-Rod's, Lee's, Sizemore's, etc.

  10. Carlos Quentin...near the top in all major categories, could be hurt if the white sox miss the playoffs though

  11. Dustin Pedroia or Carlos Quentin or Justin Morneau

    They're the primary candidates

  12. if it's k rod that'll be embarassing to MLB. He's a good closer, but he's just that. There are more than 6 closers I can think of who when put on the Angels team and put in the same situations as rodriguez has been, would do just as well. Having a good closer is valuable, however, finding one is easier than you think and a closer simply should never win a MVp.

  13. carlos quietin

  14. Justin Morneau really deserves it. He has been great for a twins team. He is on pace to hit 25-30 HR with a BA over 300 and 125-130 RBI. He has been great for his team all year and really deserves the award.

  15. Grady Sizemore!
