  1. the person who said that juan martin del potro has been around a while is an idiot!

He's younger than Gulbis.  They are bother 19 turning 20 at the end of this summer.

I think that Gulbis will have a better career.  I think he's a bit more talented than Juan Martin and competes better with the top ranked players.  Juan Martin is a very good player as well and has actually won back to back tournaments on the tour... however he didn't play anyone in the top 20 in either of those tournaments.

These next few tournaments and the US Open should tell you who will be better in the future... they're both approaching that age of young professional break outs... so we shall see.

my money is on gulbis though

  2. Gulbis. Del Potro has a nice game, but a bit too lean, though good extension. Gulbis has a huge serve and a very good ground  game. I see him getting to and remaining in top 10 soon enough. Some more work on his mental aspect of game, and should start making noise.

  3. Gulbis by far he has a strong forehand and strong backhand and is more of a presence physically than del potro

  4. This is one of the best questions asked on the board in a really really long time.

Each player is very talented, but where Gulbis beats Del Potro is in Slam performance. As we all know that it's key to be able to preform well in Grand Slam events. Gulbis made it to the semis of this years French Open and wound up losing to Djokovic in what was actually a pretty close match. He's already made it to the fourth round of the US Open and this year he was the only other player to take a set from Nadal at Wimbledon.

Del Potro is very talented too and I've said before that both these players will win a few Grand Slams in their life, but I see Gulbis as kinda the future Djokovic and Del Potro as a Clay Court specialist that might take over at the end of Nadal's career.

  5. Del Potro isnt that young, he has been around for a while,  with that said, your right gulbis definitely has top 10 potential, and i think del potro isnt going to make a big jump.
