  1. Player or Team.

Player: I think that Brooks Orpik will make the biggest improvement in terms of players, he realized that he has a ton of potential last year and this year he is really going to bring it out. I think that he will work on some things that need improving and really come out with a bang.

Team: Los Angeles Kings, I know they are in a rebuilding mode this year and they are looked down upon by the entire NHL but I think that they will surprise people this year and maybe almost make the playoffs. I think that with the new defense they have made they wont suck, they have a solid offence now they just need a goalie.

  2. Right now, I'd have to say Chicago; Campbell gives them a stud defenceman, and Huet is a solid goalie.

  3. Tampa Bay and Chicago have made the best improvements so far. Montreal looks to be a bit better also

  4. Player - Could be Theodore in Washington because if he doesnt his career could be soon over.  Im also a Naslund fan and I hope he goes somewhere where he finds his scoring touch again.

Team - Chicago Blackhawks, Huet in net, Campbell on defense added to last years great rookies Kane, Toews along with Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith, this team will be in the hunt for a long time and could go very far next year.

The last person mentioned L.A. but they have a lot of work to do and losing Visnovsky and Cammalleri really hurts.

  5. Tampa Bay Lightening

    from cellar to stellar

They have new owners, new coach and have been busy as heck signing several new quality players along with the top draft pick which is touted to be a big time player with an immediate impact. Just hang around and observe the huge change. They also still have their core of players like (league leading) Vinny Lecavalier and Martin St Louis and a few others so they will be a big time threat.

  6. blackhawks and bolts.

add - sorry, i didn't see that most of the responses agreed w/ me. yeah, i agree. the hawks are on the rise for several years. only time will tell w/ the bolts.

  7. Looks like the Lightning, the Blue Jackets, and the Blackhawks have made some improvments so far.

  8. Tampa are making so many moves that there is bound to be change. Being the worst franchise in the league last year, they can only get better. Look for Columbus to get a little better and possibly push for a lower seed in the west with Huselius and Mike Commodore added to Rick Nash's goal party. Tampa is everyone's pick but I always will take a dark horse in C-bus to surprise a few teams.

  9. Not Chicago. Campbell is horrible on defense and is afraid to hit (I'm a Sabres fan I know) and Huet will see about 50 shots a game with that defensive unit.

I'd say Tampa Bay. I love their pick of Stamkos and their deals and signings they made so far this offseason. They also have a great hockey coach in Melrose. Not to mention their in a fairly weak division and conference, so theirs no doubt they could go worst to first.

  10. I'd say the blackhawks, blue jackets, lightning, devils and oilers are poised to improve the most and to make the playoffs this year and in one case to contend for the stanley cup.  For the blackhawks, blue jackets, lightning and oilers though, their fate will all come down to their goaltending, as their offense will be very good with their recent additions.  The devils, a very defensive team, will improve on offense with Rolston and Holik, which could bring them farther into the playoffs this year and could help them contend for the stanley cup.

  11. I really like the direction the Chicago Blackhawks are headed.  They will only improve in the next few years.

  12. I really like what Edmonton has done this off-season. Vishnovsky is a good defenceman although he is slightly overpaid. Brule is 21 years old I believe and Columbus gave up on him too early. He should fit in nicely with the other young talent. Cole was their best move. He is a very good player and will make an instant impact. I see the Oil making the playoffs this year.
