Venus Williams- hopefully, she has recovered from her injury. But she is playing really great coming off of her Wimbledon win. I think she has the game and the grunts to take the gold for America.

Also, Zheng is in the draw! She has a chance of doing really well.

I don't think one of the 'top players' will win it. I am going for Hantuchova or Dementieva. I seems mad but I think the stage is perfect for the very talented players with lesser mental qualities.

I am glad that veterans like Davenport are playing. I am gutted Mary Pierce misses out.

Dinara Safina and Serena Williams I think are the other major contenders. Also Kuznetsova.

it is completely wide open! there is no clear favourite. i think any of the girls in the top 10 has a chance at taking home gold. i know alot might say,safina,and she is red hot at the moment,but i wonder her fatigue level not only from playing and winning b2b tourney's the last weeks,but this arduous 15hr flight to beijing cannot bode well for her energy level. jelena is another one. i wonder her level of confidence after assurance of her spot as no.1...and how her knee is going to hold up.

and in that,with the way the players have been fairing the last few weeks,maria out,ana struggling a bit,serena and venus having been injured,jj still be dealing with that knee and the possibility of fatigue playing a factor in safina's performance.....i am rooting sveta. she only seemed slightly rusty the last she played in montreal....she looked healthy so....perhaps she could ultimately break out here? i really hope she takes advantage of this situation.

Ana Ivanovic, trust me i know she wll win. she needs to prove her self from bad losses in previous tournaments, and there is not a better time to prove her self at the olympics, mark my words she will win :) :)

although it think safina will do very very well, becuase it is said that she is "number one player right now" with most consecutive wins and playing the best right now in time.

Serena Williams will win the gold medal in beijing. to be the second player to win all grand slams and an olympic gold medal. Steffi Graf being the one. If Serena's knee is fine she will win and she has a pretty easy draw.
