  1. if i had to bet today i have to bet cadel because he can get over the mountains well and also can time trial with the best.

but i mean for a wildcard i could see possibly Vandevelde or even kim kirchen coming back.

Schleck will not win because he doesnt have the time trial capabilities like cadel or the others i mentioned. and also i dont think he can deliver a performance on the mountains like he just gave every day.  ricco. i mean there is only like 3 or 4 more mountain stages left but he will have to gain so much time to counter the time lost in his time trials. could be a slight possibilty but i dont see it hapennig. almost inhuman

  2. I second the vote for Christian Vandevelde.  He looks so good, happy, upbeat, and he's sticking with the favorites group.  My only concern is that the Garmin team hasn't looked super strong in the mountains (CSC was just punishing CDE yesterday when Valverde dropped off the back)

As long as Vandevelde doesn't have the yellow jersey and can stick with the leaders in the mountains (we've got a week of flat stages before the Alps) he can hopefully take the lead on the final time trial.  Garmin has spent so much time/effort in the wind tunnel improving their aero capability.

Of course, the exact same things could be said for Cadel Evans, but Silence Lotto doesn't look very strong and since he just picked up Yellow his team will be forced to hold the pace at the front for the next week.  It's also interesting to see how hurt he is from the crash.

As to Schleck and Ricco-- Ricco won't gain enough in the mountains to account for what he'll lose in the TT, same for Schleck (and Schleck doesn't have the full team support-- they're mainly working for Sastre).

  3. I'd like Schlek to win, but I think it will be Cadel Evans. After today it definitely won't be Ricardo Ricco!

  4. It's an open race still but I'll put my neck out and go with Cadel Evans.!!!

  5. Armstrong.  He's such a winner, he doesn't even have to compete anymore.  He's just the automatic win.  Now that's Lifestrong!

  6. armstrong

  7. why is everyone saying armstrong he is retired now

  8. This year is a good 'un, the field is still pretty much open - Still can't guess on a winner at this stage...

  9. I like Vandevelde's chances. He looked strong after yesterday's stage and he is a strong time trialer. Sastre and Menchov are also strong contenders who are in the mix.

  10. because of the last stage? are you crazy? Anyone can win it. cadel evens is a good bet but so are many others.

  11. Probably Cadel Evans, for one reason:

The best team (ASTANA) and the best rider (CONTADOR) are not there.
