Article title: Border patrol agent held at gun point

Found in: News /national security second story down.

Who do you believe would be best to deal with what I can only describe as acts of war on U.S. personal? Thoughtful answers please.

  1. Shoot them on sight. Sounds a little rough, but foreign military don't belong on our soil without permission. If I was the head of Border Patrol down there I'd authorize my Agents to fire on Mexican soldiers if they cross the border, or otherwise threaten them.

  2. Machine gun nests  & air patrol

  3. I would stop, relax and think about the issues.

One important thing to remember is that the drug gangs frequently dress in Mexican army and police uniforms so we cannot be sure that this was members of the Mexican army.

Besides - it would be a real stretch to consider this as an 'act of war.'

  4. Isn't the ARNG already deployed along the border?  Since there are Soldiers there they would be the "who" best placed geographically to deal with acts of war.  I'm sure their ROE are really sucky and prohibitive though.

In the bigger picture, Congress or the President are the best people to respond to acts of war.

  5. That's not the worst of it. Where I grew up we used to have the Mexican Military illegally cross over the US Border into California, they even confiscated firearms from Americans camping in the desert.
