Question:

Who do you vote for when you have no idea who to vote for?

I'm not the only one who is in a quandary as to who to vote for. I don't like or trust either of them. So, do you not vote at all or vote for whom you feel is the lesser of two evils?

We have a debate here at work about this. My friend always thought that you had the right to vote or not to vote but this time has changed her mind. She says she is voting for whom she feels is the lesser of two evils. She says if you don't vote then you cannot complain later on. However, what if you vote for one of them and they cause a catastrophe? Then you're like "oh c**p, my vote could have been the deciding vote and now look at what is happening.

  1. Just do what 60% of voters do and pull the party lever.

Don't confuse yourself with facts-It's not the democratic way.

  2. If you are voting the "lesser of two evils"...your still voting for something evil.  If you can't decide who to vote for and don't want to use logical facts, I'd say vote Obama.  If you are a person who believes in personal responsibility and understand that your life is in your own hands, not some hand me out government, then i'd say vote Mccain!!

  3. Honestly, I pretty much tend to ignore all the politicking up until the debates.  I watch all the debates (VP and Presidential), and read both the campaign's websites pretty well and read the endorsements of some groups I align with, and then I just decide.

Honestly, I don't really like either party, so sometimes I vote 3rd party, but I always end up voting, because there's always important local elections, bonds, and initiatives.

The two-party system sucks, and both parties are equally corrupt and in the pockets of giant corporations - you can complain about this at any time, you don't have to vote first.

  4. don't worry, your vote couldn't possibly be a deciding vote.  The odds are astronomical.  I mean like 10,000,000 to 1.  Just vote third party if you don't like the two main candidates.

  5. Just vote for the lesser of the two evils.  The person that you think would do a little better than the other.  I'm voting for OBAMA because he's a Democrat and mostly because I don't like Republicans :)

  6. I always say vote.  Make a choice instead of letting others make it for you.

Here's my suggestion: Make a list of the top 10 things important to you and how you feel about them.  Rank them in order of importance.  In the next column put down how one of the candidates feels about that same issue.  In the third column put in the other guy's opinion.  Look at that and weigh the position of each against your own.

Putting it on paper has a way of making it concrete and real. It also lets you "weight" the importance of issues.

  7. I only vote on issues that affect how our laws work. I refuse (as is my right) to vote for ANY politician. A politician is a skunk regardless of party in my opinion. I haven't voted for a politician in many years and have no regrets.

  8. Listen to People you respect and you feel they are wiser than yourself, Not they phony Bloggers, Speak to any person that lived thru the Carter years, that will tell you enough,

  9. Voting for the "lesser of 2 evils" really says where politics is these days, doesn't it?

If you don't like either candidate, then feel free to not vote. It is your choice. And, in my opinion, you CAN still complain if you don't vote. If the person elected gets into office and screws everything up, you have every right to complain about the mess the voters created that you had nothing do with. That is why we are the land of the free.

  10. Decide what issues are important to you and go with the candidate you think will best help those issues.

  11. since both candidates dissapoint me, I'm voting for Nader, you should too..send a message to both parties that you want better choices

  12. THINK ABOUT THE ISSUES THAT MATTER TO YOU AND WILL AFFECT YOU PERSONALLY. THEN DO A LITTLE RESEARCH TO SEE WHICH CANDIDATE HAS A PLAN THAT BEST FITS YOUR NEEDS. VOTE FOR THAT CANDIDATE. GOOD LUCK.

  13. I know how you feel. Just go with your gut instinct and don't look back. Regret is just a waste of time and energy.

  14. Mccain i dont neccesarily like him but he has a lot of experience unlike obama, and i think he has the biggest chance of removing troops since he himself was a POW for like 5 years

  15. I'm afraid of McCain becoming president because it will be extremely damaging. I mean if we don't do anything about global warming the polar ice caps will melt and essentially put US coast and major cities under water. There's nothing to govern if we have no country to live in. The war in Iraq is never going to end as long as we are dependent on oil. Drilling off shore will still not be enough to completely fuel America if we were to continue using oil. So giving a 3rd world country in search of obtaining nuclear weapons money will only fall from about 79 billion to 59. Money that we are still borrowing from china who owes us nothing and has the greatest economy in the world at the moment. And to vote Palin as VP who is a women completely inexperienced to think that McCain thinks we are stupid enough to vote based on s*x only is insulting. McCain really looks down on the American people.

Palin is a nobody and was picked by McCain after one visit. Its obvious that her qualification or lack there of was NOT the reason McCain picked her...But only the fact that she can wear a pencil skirt. PALIN IS NO HILARY! She is a poor choice for someone who could potentially be the President of the United States. If you are unable to see that, then I really don't know where you draw the line for experienced/inexperienced or progression /regression.

War is a big issue yes...But for the last 7 years our approach has not been THOROUGHLY reevaluated. This is ONE issue. To a number of issues. health care, economy, environment, taxes, jobs, and education that McCain is all inexperienced in and the only issues I heard McCain address are oil and war. Where he plans to give more to the foreign oil companies through tax breaks. We can't afford for those other issues to sit on the back burner AGAIN for another 4 years!

Vote for Obama. How can anyone say Obama doesn't have loyalty to the people when he turned down cooperate CEO jobs to work for the people DIRECTLY??? And instead of sipping champagne at rich republican party's kissing *** he was working in closet size offices in inner city's to support families that lost their job and health care to foreign countries, Obamas been working for the people of this country black, white, g*y, straight and of all religions. Open your eyes and look beyond the visual perceptions.

I can't believe McCain when he talks about morals because of the way he treated his first wife.

  16. Elvis

    The king must come back!

  17. Your friend is right - no vote means shut up.  You actually have a lot of choices.  First off, you have the right to vote for whomever you feel to be the lesser of two evils, that's a bonafide choice and that's what a lot of us do every 4 years.  Secondly, there are an awful lot of choices besides the two leading eels.  I haven't looked to see, but I would expect there are another ten parties running candidates for the presidential ticket.  There are communists, socialists, right-wing extremists, racists, and other wackos, but there are also a few bonafide alternatives - Green Party, Libertarian Party, Constitutional Party, and probably others that aren't likely to break through any time soon, but every time they get closer and one day the Democans and Republicrats are going to be scratching their heads wondering what happened.

So please vote, your country's future depends on it.

  18. If you do not know who to vote for just dont vote at all. I am voting for McCain because I rather have an old man as my president than a racist black man ( is he black? He doesnt even know what he is himself). I seen him where he didnt even put his hand over his heart during the pledge...this man does not love our country! So many people vote for him just because he is black because black is the new cool right?
