  1. Snowball.  The lesser of three evils.

  2. I liked Snowball. It's true that he manipulated the other animals, but I believe that, under his leadership, that would have eventually ended.

Remember, he drafted the 7 Commandments, planned the windmill, and was Napoleon's greatest enemy. I think he was the best pig the Animal Farm had to offer.

EDIT: Clover, Benjamin, and Boxer? Well, they were definitely the most likable characters in the novel. They had charisma and work ethics. However, don't forget that Benjamin was the only literate one of the three--not to mention that Boxer is a born follower.

  3. Snowball. He had the leadership qualities and was not all that evil.

Boxer had the best heart, but he was not that bright and easily fooled, therefore he would not make a good leader. Benjamin was the wisest, but he was too sour and indifferent about others to lead. Clover just doesn't strike me as a leader.

  4. None. Or in other words, everyone. In yet other person - no single person (no particular animal).

That was the whole motivation of the book - that, in a society where a leader can not exist, leadership is created and that is invariably molded (bended) by human (animal) nature.

That is my take on this topic.

Btw, for further information, you can read classic literature for free in different internet resources such as:

And you get George Orwell's complete collection for free there (along with other books and other authors).

  5. Benjamin, The wise donkey.
