  1. ALL airlines are doing it now.

The baggage charge has nothing to do with the air fare.

    Take less baggage.

Note to MVH:  It doesn't matter when you paid for your tickets.  The baggage charge is separate, and is charged when you check in.

  2. It's not only AA, a lot of airlines are starting to charge for baggage, snacks, drinks, etc.

  3. I got charged on United Airlines, American isn't the only one.

  4. Almost all airlines are now charging for bags that are checked.

  5. Yeah, I think American starts the trend, then United is quick to follow.  Like you said, American offers the low fares, but that doesn't include fees.  Just another reason why you should stick with Southwest, first two checked bags are free, plus they advertise no surprise fees.  I don't like American anyway and won't fly them because I encountered the worst customer service I had ever seen, but they are only digging themselves deeper

  6. you're right, they dont have the lowest fares, but the do come up like that when you reserve a flight with them or look on the internet. why? because baggage checking doesnt count or any of the other expenses that they are charging you. expecially if you fly alot and you are platinum or executive platinum you dont have to pay any of those expenses. hope i helped!!! :)

  7. Well at least they are still giving free drinks

lucky for me i bought my tickets before they added they baggage charge

even though im not flying till the end of july
