Who does Gordon Brown think is the most stupid, us or the oil producers?

He's talking to the Saudis etc.

Does he really think the oil producers will be in favour of investing in wind farms?

Does he think that we here believe that anyone is listening to him talking to them?

  1. I think it's time to go electric and have found

a electric scooter that travels 40miles on

    a 8 hour charge for £999

  2. Us!The British public!!

  3. he doesnt care

  4. the Saudis need to start diversifying - they've only got 40 years worth of oil.

in addition, the British get a lot of the Saudis oil out for them - Shell and BP.

+ the Saudis like the Brits, they sell them all their fighter aircraft and warships - Gordon has quite some clout.

you're right though, Saudi Arabia loves a high oil price - why would they want to lower it and reduce their revenues? they will be very friendly, but ultimately change nothing.

*Edit* - i work in defence too!!! are you at BAE?

  5. There is nothing stupid at all in what he is doing.

Increased oil production will mean lower prices but, obviously, more sales, so there is no reason why the oil producing regions would not be interested in that.

The more forward thinking states of the Gulf region are very interested in wind farms and solar power because they know that oil, one day, will run out, and if they have not prepared for it they are screwed. Why do you think Dubai and Abu Dhabi are suddenly building cities with their oil trillions? They are trying to lay an infrastructure for when the oil runs dry.

Gordon Brown's actions seem eminently sensible to me.

What is your solution, by the way?

  6. Renewables are the future.....but it still makes sense to talk.

(Less sense to depend on military weapons)

  7. Well he's pretty naive if he thinks that the Saudis are going to listen to him.

And he's incredibly naive if he still thinks the British public believe anything he says now. What happened to our referendum, which he promised to have.
