Who does cotto have to beat in order to land a fight with mayweather?

Do ya'll think that cotto needs to beat another big name fighter, or does he need more experience.

Personally, by him beating mosley, I think he's more than ready because mosley is faster and hits harder than floyd, and floyds biggest fights have been against de la hoya and hatton.

well actually Floyd has had bigger fights than Cotto whole career..... he beat champion Hernandez, Manfredy, undefeated power puncher Corrales(R.I.P.) a prime Castillio twice, Gatti, Judah, etc, etc, etc all this while moving up in weight floyd walks around at 135lbs he bulks up..while Cotto comes down from 160lbs Cotto has victories over Judah, Malinaggi, and Mosley he just has to wait...and if anyone thinks he's ducking Cotto you dont know boxing....it's about making the fight juicy for the sensationalism and Floyd had an agenda long before Cotto was rated which was less then a year and a half ago as a legit threat...and he is Legit.. Floyd is going to do the Sugar Ray Leonard thing and probaly make Cotto his Hagler.........

If he beats Gomez, and then wins his follow up fight against Mayorga, and Floyd beats Oscar again, then its really the only logical match out there for both me.

No it wont be bigger than Floyd/Oscar 1 and it wont even generate the revenue of Floyd v Hatton.  As far as boxing matches go that have a baring on todays boxing scene this probably trumps both of them.

If Mayweather was answering he'd probably say that Cotto needs to beat Gomez, Cintron-Margarito winner, Quintana-Williams winner (possibly meaning beating Quintana a second time), Joshua Clottey, Ricardo Mayorga and probably Andre Berto. By that time, Mayweather will have announced his retirement and avoided Cotto.

Now in my opinion, I think he simply need to take care of business with Gomez, tonight, and then see what happens with Mayorga and/or the Cintron-Margarito winner. If Cotto looks very impressive in victory then that will increase the demands for a Mayweather-Cotto showdown.

Mayweather is 150 when he's not boxing. Cotto probley go up to 160. Cotto has to face Margarito, Clottey which I think he cant win against. If i was Cotto, I wouldn't fight Moyarga because that would be moving him back. Moyarga time has been up. If he face those guy's I think one of them will give him a L. Cotto is good but I dont think he can will back to back hard fights. He would have to prove me wrong.

Whatever, Mosley is NOT faster than Mayweather. Mosley is a shell of his old self, and Cotto BARELY beat him. Floyd would rape Cotto.

cotto just needs at least 2 more fights to be ready for floyd. afater floyd fights oscar the only opponnent lefet for him to fight that will give him a large sum of money is cotto and no one else.

"TIME!" Cotto is a good fighter and to put him in with Money May @ this point would be devistating to his ego and possibly his career.He had to move on  an old Sugar Shane!
