So, I just answered a question on global warming and I am displeased to find out how many people dont actually know what its all about. It's a natrual occurance that has been happening for years!!! Even before we were here. But now that people drive cars it increases this natural effect, are people afraid of the truth?

  1. Yeah, people are afraid of the truth, they don't want to be held accountable for their actions, they don't want to feel like they have to change their routine or step out of their wasteful comfort zone.   The science is there, but it's more convenient for some people to ignore it or try to use broad, sweeping, irrational conspiracy theories to try and discredit the scientific findings.

  2. dont believe the hype.  why aren't you questioning the c**p people are telling us to believe?  Global warming isn't proven.  Everyone is so ready to question religion, but so faithful to science.  Why aren't we questioning science too?

  3. People are in denial, there is so much proof out there that global warming does exist and its the ignorance of these people that will lead this planet to its impending doom. People that I've spoken with that didn't believe in after I've talked to them and actually gotten on the internet and showed them actual factual websites have come to believe that this is really happening...After I show them the facts I ask them what facts they have to prove it isn't happening and no one can come up with anything.

  4. Take a college astronomy course and you won't believe that bs anymore.

  5. I believe in global warming.Because I am a nice guy.

  6. I don't believe in global warming. I believe the theory that our weather patterns change through out the centuries and will continue to change because that's the cycle of the planet. Research sun spots and how the effect our climate... you won't believe the mass hysteria any more.

  7. I don't believe in global warming

  8. Don't get caught up in the hysteria.  There is a difference between science and alarmism.  Alarmism has always turned out to be wrong.

  9. What? Because we don't choose to believe the way you want to believe were afraid of a truth that hasn't been proven. I also love how people claim there's soooo much evidence. Well what's the evidence? You all have the wool pulled so far over your heads you can't see the truth if it was right in front of you.

Alot of us did a heck of alot more research and reading on this than you have and we've come to a different conclusion. Like a couple people mentioned do some reading up on sun spots and their cycle. You also need to pay attention to the readings coming from ocean based temperture stations. It appears that the oceans are cooling off not warming up. (This also explains the decrease in hurricanes) I know some claim weather has nothing to do with climate, but I disagree. To show this you have to look further then your own backyard though. If the Northern Hemisphere keeps experiencing increasingly colder winters that shows me that the climate is cooling off not warming up. If the Northern Hemispere has increasingly warmer (milder) winters it shows me the climate is warming up not cooling off.

Then I add in what I've learned about sun spots and what's happening with the oceans and the Winters in both the Southern hemispere in 2007 and this past Winter in the Northern Hemisphere and I clearly feel I missed my chance to get out of Minnesota before another 20 year cold snap sets in.

  10. It sounds like you already have made up your mind.  I believe in global warming...but I believe it's cyclical, irrespective of humankind's influence.  Example:  there are fossils of tropical plants and life that are in the far northern latitudes.  This says that global warming occurred millions of years ago.  There are also fossils of sea creatures that have been found in the Rocky Mountains.  I also seem to recall that when Mt. Pinatubo (sp?) erupted in the Philippines in the latter part of the 20th century, that atmospheric samples of the eruption's gasses, after analysis, showed that more pollutants contributing to acid rain were released during that eruption than ALL the pollutants "created" since the Industrial Revolution.  I didn't verify the veracity of that study, though.

  11. No, I don't think that people are afraid of the truth, I think people want to be sure the truth is the truth before we are forced to give up what makes us who we are.

When we are told that the earth's climate is changing and its due to those of us who must drive in order to get to work, and we are told this by people who fly jets around the world just to tell people how wasteful we are, then many of us take offense at that.

That our climate is changing is true, that we or more to the point, that we Americans are to blame, there we have some room for debate.

Our cars are some of the cleanest in the world,  Our power plants are some of the cleanest in the world.  We would like to switch to nuclear, but those in the 'green' movement will have none of that, we are told solar, but solar does not produce anywhere near the energy that it takes to run even the most modest home, and windmills are years and years to pay for.
