I used to be a hugh fan of the Cup drivers going into the Nationwide races and seeing how the rookies compared to the veterans, but lately my view has changed. For one, the Nationwides series has started to get more and more rookies, which spots keep getting taken up by Cup drivers. And two, the Cup drivers are really impatient and in just the past two weeks I have seen Biffle wreck, Landon Cassill and Joey Logano.

  1. They should limit the races they are in.  I love to see a Nationwide racer win.  I remember someone...maybe a few years back, a Nationwide (then Busch) driver say that with the Cup drivers in the race they (Nationwide drivers) learn from them.  Which makes sense.  Still I think they should be there to race and teach maybe, but not full season so that an actual Nationwide driver can have a shot at winning the championship.

  2. Yes, and the Truck series.

I don't see NFL players playing in Collage football. Whats the difference?

You are a pro, stick with the pros!!!

  3. Sorry, I can't agree with you. I like the fact that the Nationwide regulars and these young, new drivers have a chance to beat the Cup drivers. It gives them a greater sense of accomplishment and boosts their confidence when they do win. It also brings fans, sponsors and TV exposure to the series that would be struggling even worse than it is now without the Cup regulars.

  4. Someone asks this after almost every Nationwide race...however I think the ratings would go down if the Cup guys weren't allowed to race in the Nationwide series, and it may be hard for them to pull a full field of 43 drivers for some of the races.

For example, how many people watch ARCA races compared to Nationwide races? Not a lot, but I bet if you threw in Kyle Busch, Dale Jr., Jeff Gordon, into the ARCA series, the ratings would skyrocket, so I'm sure part of it is about entertainment value as well.

You are right about Biffle and some others. I think sometimes they go out and do crazy things because they care if they mess up the car or anything...but they probably should not drive so impatiently against the guys running for points. But a true racer has trouble knowing when not to go for broke.

  5. When we had guys like Martin and Jeff Burton running in Busch there was no problem. The cup drivers running now seem to think Nationwide is their playground where they are entitled to win and if not crash them and trash them. The young Nationwide kids are very good and that adds to the frustration I think.

I would love to see a Nationwide regular take the title this year.

I think the cup drivers should be allowed but limited to 20 races or less so the kids can lead the points and enjoy a championship.

  6. cup drivers put butts in seats - both at the track and in front of the tv - that's reality.  without them, fewer people watch, period. and when fewer people watch, sponsor dollars dwindle. i also think it's a good idea to have the cup drivers in with the nationwide drivers to give them experience racing against what they'll see if they make it to cup - these guys can learn a lot from the cup regulars who come and race.

yeah, there will always be problems but the good it brings, at least at the moment, outweighs the problems.  and with the talent coming up in nationwide now, i wouldn't be surprised to see more and more nationwide regulars entering the top ten, and sooner than you think.

  7. NASCAR would lose money if they did this.

However it would be better for the series in every other way.  Nationwide and truck series are supposed to be for young guys to get experience so they can move up to Cup when they are ready.  A lot of these guys never get a fair shot at getting better because the Cup teams who come down have better equipment, better drivers, and better crews.  They domintate the series and take all the prize money and points.  You dont see A-Rod playing AAA baseball on off days.  This is the same thing.

I think that they could still find 43 cars to run every race if they got the costs back under control.  Huge Cup teams have driven up the costs so much that the Nationwide teams simply cant afford to compete at the same level.  It costs as much to run a Nationwide team now as a Cup team but the prize money is only a fraction as much.

  8. I think that the Cup drivers should not race in the Nationwide series however if there was no cup drivers would anyone really would be watching the nationwide series..... Not really so that why the cup drivers are racing for the nationwide series. Now... I think they should not race for points because I think that there will be better competition the Nationwide Guys to win a championship fair and square without a cup driver taking their shot away.......

  9. yha i think drivers like cale gale, landon cassil and brad kesselowski can win but i like reutimann and ragan in nationwide

  10. No, they should, will give the minors some experience and good for the ratings of the race.

let them run, it will be fun to watch

  11. i agree that nasca drivers should race but not get points  now this sounds retarded but it wont give the nationwide drivers much but u cant argue with nascar
