Wow - it's funny - last year when the Cats were rising everyone was behind us. We were upsetting the apple cart and knocking over some tall poppies.

This year have you noticed the questions ... "Geelong's arrogance", "sick of Geelong winning" ... gee it's great being a tall poppy isn't it? Same team, playing the same way ...

The question - is the tall poppy syndrome a big part of why you watch footy? Which team do you see as the tall poppy you like to see chopped?

  1. **I couldn't agree with you more.  People were really happy for Geelong last year and now they're sick of them because they are such a good side and a big challenge for other teams.

I want to see Geelong keep winning for a bit longer because I think they really deserve it ... so do their fans.

I wonder if it'd be different if it was another team up there, say Essendon, Carlton or Collingwood.**

  2. Yes, it is fun.

I want to see the Hawks get chopped.

I still like Geelong (actually i hate them) but i like geelong more than the hawks.

The tall poppy syndrome makes football fun. I love that i change my hates so quick depending on which team is doing what.

  3. ??

  4. Haha mate, Tall Poppy Syndrome makes the games and rivalries of the competition fun :)

  5. also couldnt agree more...

my dad has been a cats supporter since he was 5 yrs old so he remembers their LAST premiership (as in b4 '07)

he was absolutely ecstatic (specially seeing our neighbour goes 4 power haha) but i was happy 4 him coz i saw what he had been through...

we go 2 all the lions games at the gabba and he wears his cats stuff 2 every game.. doesnt bother me but he cops it from others!!

he nearly punched some guy coz he said somethin bout 'jumpin on the band wagon' haha

u should have seen his face!!!

he was so pissed off it was hilarious!

  6. Hey, don't let it get to you, pal!

The WCE copped that all the time they were a top side - especially from the Vic based clubs feral fans.

It's like horse racing with me - I like to see the champions win. I never barrack for a roughie to knock over the favourite. In football, unless it is my team, I like to see the top players do well & the top teams win.

This tall-poppy & under-dog syndrome thing really gets up my nose!

  7. Its so true what you say I wonder if its because the Aussie way is to see the underdog triumph and last year Geelong were the underdog but that changed when they won the Brownlow and Grand Final even though they are the same team they are now winners.

As they say we are weird mob.

  8. They are a magnifficent team.

I would like to see them keep winning. They deserve it.

But how can you call them Arrogance when they go out and play football at their best.

If they were playing **** everyone would bag the **** of them.

    CARN THE BLUES!

  9. I still like Geelong winning, in fact i wouldn't mind them breaking the most grand finals in a row (unless any of them are against Essenodn). They basically hold every other record in the AFL any way!

  10. As a keen Geelong supporter, I find it difficult to see how Geelong are now the 'arrogant' team that some of the media has been persieving them as.

Geelong can not help winning so many games. No one would be intrested if Geelong started tanking and there would be very angry supporters down at Geelong.

I think some people find it hard to see that Geelong are the same team as last year when they had a stella season.

    Give Geelong a break.

  11. Anyone who bags Geelong at the moment are simply jealous. You can't help but admire the way they play their footy. It's awesome to watch such a well oiled machine in action. If only they all played like that..

    And I'm a Carlton supporter!
