Question:

Who else feels that Nadal's loss in Rome is not so bad?

I'm a big Nadal fan and I think his loss in Rome is positive in a way, because it will enable him to rest and be more prepared to win the Masters event he has never won - Hamburg. If he had clinched the Rome title and (by some miracle) Hamburg as well, the pressure of keeping the new clay streak going would have affected his game at the FO. Clay matches are the most gruelling of any surface, and Nadal is only human!

  1. yeah its not bad.. he had a blister... he's still the real champ for me, not giving up.. until the very last moment... it's ok for him to lose.. so he can rest this week,, and play back in hamburg and finally playing 100% best tennis in the french open... and win it..

  2. I agree this loss is not that bad. He will receive rest like you said for other tournaments but it also takes some pressure off of him. He doesn't have the burden of worrying about whether or not he is going to have the perfect season on clay, he knows he suffered a loss and can move on. Even though Nadal is the King of Clay, he can't win every match on clay, he can however win the big matches like the French Open.

  3. Hey why should we feel bad for Rafa's loss? No one can win every single match in every single tournament...thats what the great Bjorn Borg said during his heydays....its history repeating itself coz Bjorn sees Rafa in him....a loss is a loss no matter how rare it comes....watch out Hamburg, Rafa will take you alive......

  4. It is only "bad" for he lost points defending the tournament he has won numerous times and has more of a gap between he and Roger now. I know thats on his mind. However if he allows his blister(s) to heal properly, stays off the court for a short while, he will bounce back with no doubt.

  5. I'm glad he lost. Everynow and then looking back, I do feel bad also, but he gets much needed rest and he should be in tip-top condition for Hamburg and the big one the French Open. And, if he has to skip Hamburg, that's ok too!

  6. I don't think its bad at all, its just a loss, if you never lost a match your reputation would go very bad and people would start hating you.

I do too think this can improve him in F.O since he will be more determined and he will like to revenge himself in a way. It is nothing to be ashamed of I personally believe he will redeem himself and the nation will be amazed, the loss in Rome should not be anything to be ashamed of.

    Phil.

  7. Well im  an obsessive Rafa fan i absolutely adore this guy!!!! So you can imagine how i felt when he was getting treatment on his foot which looked quite painful :( But anyway yeah i agree with you :) At first i was pretty sad but then i said ``Hey Mandy, pull yourself together, Rafa now has time to rest and recouporate`` He`ll be back at Hamburg winning in no time and then ofcourse the big one the French which i still believe he can win despite what people (majority of them fed fans) are saying about his shock defeat here.

  8. I think it's very bad coz he lose 495 points, novak may overtake him and he'll be far away to roger again.

  9. You know what... that´s so true. Ok, i was a bit sad at first but i believe that everything is made for a reason. And Rafa can´t be Superman and do it all. Maybe it´s for the best the fact that he lost here. Now he can rest and play his best tennis at the other tournaments. Perhaps if he won Rome too and then played in Hamburg he couldn´t have played at his best levels at Roland Garros and that would have been a shame. I wish him the best at the other tournaments. For me, no matter what,he is just the best.:)
