  1. I agree, no likes them as much as you.....I like them but....Obviously, not as much as you

  2. I also love this band.  My fave albums are the Red album, Closer to Home & We're an American Band w/an honorable mention for On Time.

    Fave songs are:

    Aimless Lady (Closer to Home)

Walk Like a Man (You can call me your man)(We're an American Band)

    Time Machine (On Time)

Paranoid & Got This Thing on the Move (Grand Fund - the red album)

Unfortunately not all songs are good.......I won't get into their version of "Locomotion" A-A-R-R-G-G-H-H!!!

  3. That whole " RED " Album is a C-L-A-S-S-I-C.

I saw them in person back in '73, on their 1st job of their "American Band Tour".

    P.S. - Are U a Drummer ???????

I used to know a GREAT drummer named "Hoagie''

P.S. #2 - Did U know that The Animals did the original version of " Inside Looking Out " ??  And did you know that Grand Funk covered another Animals song????- " We Gotta Get Outta This Place ".

  4. i'm getting closer.or was that some one else / \ eh,60s right

  5. I'm also a BIG Grand Funk fan..."We're an American Band" - one of my all time favorites is "Mean Mistreater".

  6. "Inside Looking Out" was a cover of an Animals tune. Their first LP had nothing on the infamous Red Album.

I saw them live on the Closer To Home Tour in 1971 and they were a very good power trio. I'm disappointed in Mark Farner's career choices, especially lately. I'm also glad Bob Seger was smart enough to grab Don Brewer and Craig Frost for the Silver Bullet Band.

I always liked Brewer's vocals better. "We're An American Band" is my favorite song. It showcases their power rock, which is what made them famous in the first place. Many forget the vendetta waged against GFR by Rolling Stone magazine for being unrepentent rockers instead of the Dylan-or-nothing crowd. Ben Fong-Torres wrote a series of vicious articles about Grand Funk as they sold out stadiums and went platinum with every release.

  7. I've always loved GFR....I remember back in '71,'72...playing Closer to Home,Heartbreaker,Mean Mistreater.......that was "the good 'ole days...lol.

Mark Farner was awesome!!! Of course all us girls were totally awestruck by him........
