  1. hey!

im from the rgv, and i have to admit i was a bit scared! the heavy winds were insane!! thats cause it was a catagory 2..imagine if it was a catagory 4 or higher..

im just blessed, dolly didn't do any harm in my neighborhood, other than tree branches breaking in half..

my prayers are out to all the people from cameron & willacy county! May God Bless Them  & Their Families!

  2. I'm in Edinburg.  I was worried about getting a tree branch through the window, but that didn't happen.  It surprised me how long it hovered!  It was just so slow to move on.  I really thought the levee would break, but it's lucky that didn't happen.  I feel bad for those who had their homes flooded.

  3. I'm glad that you made it OK.

I went through Hurricane Floyd in 1999. So I understand how you feel.

This season looks like it's going to be a busy one. So everyone living on the coast from Texas to Connecticutt needs to have a preparedness plan and a storm kit.

    A Hurricane Kit should have:

-3 gallons of water per person.

    -1 flashlight person

    -extra batteries for the flashlight

-an FM radio with fresh batteries

-snacks that can be eaten without cooking

-a full tank of gas in your car

    -glowsticks

    -tarps or dropcloths

    -cash

    -necessary medications

    -first aid kit

    If you evacuate:

    -tell someone where you're going

-make sure your cell phone is fully charged

    -take proper identification

-take a recent phone bill or gas bill. Something with your address on it. (Police will often only let residents with proper id back.)

-be aware that you will not likely be allowed back right away. Power lines may be down. Roads may be blocked or flooded.

Give authorities time to secure a storm area.

-if you have a pet, make sure you find a hotel that will allow pets. Most shelters do NOT allow pets.

Hurricane seaon lasts until Nov. 30th.

    Be prepared now.
