Question:

Who else is annoyed with Home Video format changes?

I just get really annoyed because i've recently converted my room to get rid of all of the video tapes that I never used anymore and have DVD only. Almost instantly I see all of this Blu Ray c**p all over adverts on TV like "Available on DVD and Blu Ray now" which annoys me because it reminds me of when VHS was being phased out and DVD was an up and coming format. I mean do they think people are made orture of buildiof money? I really don't feel like having to buy a Blu Ray player in the future and eventually (when and if DVD is phased out) have a whole bunch of DVD's that i can't use. I mean it kinda sucks as I don't really have a problem with the current quality and don't really think it's worth it paying all of that money just to have picture that's a little bit better, the same thing has been said for HDTV. Anyone else agree? disagree? views, opinions? =)

  1. How do you think I feel. Last Christmas I bought a Toshiba HD-DVD player. They will soon be history. Its all just marketing gimmicks to take our money. Are you sure Blu Ray plays regular DVD's?

  2. Just a couple points even though your question is not relevant anymore.

First, anyone who is telling you that HD and Blu-Ray is just a little better is either nuts or have not seen a true 1080p Blu-Ray on a 1080p tv.  The difference in picture is almost night and day.

Secondly, Blu-Ray is not intended to be a replacement to DVD anytime soon if ever, but an alternative for people who want the better picture and sound.  It will be at least 5 years, and probably longer, before DVD's go away and it will probably be to an even different media than Blu-Ray.
