Who else likes the idea of promoting AFL in India? ?

It makes a change to feel like congratulating Andrew Demetriou. But there is irony with this offshore promotion of the game. Oh well, it is a potentially bigger market than Tasmania.

  1. I like the idea of promoting the actual game in India, but not expanding AFL into other countries! The AFL needs to be a completely national league before it spreads into other countries.

  2. yeah i do

but we must keep the game in Australia for all to see

    i

  3. The AFL should concentrate on the 2 new teams before throwing money at pie in the sky international suff, AFL is an Aussie sport and thats the way we like it (ah huh, ah huh!!

  4. Promoting it to gain sponors dollars - yes.

Not to get the Indians playing it though. If an umpire's decision went against them they'd threaten to go home - like they do in the cricket.

And can you just imagine the hullabaloo if the tribunal suspended one of their players!

  5. Australia would destroy you guys, sorry they don't mess around

  6. I dont like it 1 little bit coz the nxt thing they'll do is make it WFL (world football league) n it started in Australia and it should stay in Australia

  7. Don't make the mistake of congratulating Andrew Demetriou. I am sure Andrew the wanker had almost nothing to do with it, just signed off as OK.

Andrew wouldn't know promotion of the sport if it smacked him in the face.

Playing matches in America would be silly, but how come the AFL just plain don't give a d**n about promoting the game to America and make tons of money with a real, yes real attempt to promote the game in America.

Calling Andrew a wanker--I sure he would take that as a complement, he is that much of an idiot.

  8. Not sure - i like the idea of it being a purely owned australian game carying our pride and stuff like that....

  9. To all Aussie Rules supporters, please pass this on to your mates, because the AFL doesn't want anyone to know about it.

As of August 27th 16 overseas teams will be in Victoria playing for the Aussie Rules International Cup. Check out this site.

    http://www.afl.com.au/Development/Intern...

    The Countries are:

    Ireland

    Sweden

    New Zealand

    Great Britain

    Japan

    Canada

    Finland

    Samoa

    India

    USA

    Denmark

    China

    South Africa

    Papua New Guinea

    Nauru

    Peaceteam (Israel and Palestine)

There are over 30,000 Aussie Rules players world wide, (AND they ARE NOT expatriate Aussies) and dropkick Dimetriou and the  AFL have not provided one bit of support to them. Only Sheeds and Barass have been helping them.

  10. That's stupid.

It's a game that's for the southern and western states of Australia only.

  11. I have to say that it is a joke to be promoting AFL overseas while excluding a state in your own country (Tasmania)!

I dont mind the idea though. Plenty of Indians migrate to Australia so they might as well get a taste of our culture before they do. Dunno if I would recommend AFL players eat that spicy food before a match though!

  12. south africa would be the best proposition

  13. I hate the idea of promoting games around the world. they dont give a toss about the game. I mean the northern states dont give a c**p, why should india?

  14. I don't have a problem with playing exhibition matches there. This may expand the viewing audience but definitely not in favour of teams being set up overseas.

The AFL should be looking at its home base rather than overseas. What is wrong with looking at teams for Tasmania, Northern Territory or the ACT.

I'm a rugby fan, the Western Force went well because of a perceived South African expat force there. Rugby League has tried to put teams in areas where there was no ongoing interest. They Tried with the Western Reds and the Adelaide Rams. Both went under.

The AFL should work to support its areas and to improve the game there not try to go for oneupmanship with the League. Look at a team for western Sydney but first look at other aussie rules starved areas crying out for a team like Tassie but not Gold Coast.

  15. yeah stuff India

waste of time and no real talent prospects to be found in India anyways.

    They would get smashed.
