I missed the last half of it. What happened? I got on the internet a few minutes ago and saw that Kimbo Slice won by a controversial TKO in the main event. What was the deal with that?

  1. I have to admit that lately I have been just a little pissed at Dana White and how he has handled alot of his fighters and feel that he is headed down the same path that boxing let Don King go. HOWEVER...last nights show by elite xc was a pathetic wwe commercialized farce. Early stoppages, showboat entrances, unprofessional referees. Now to Kimbo, he has improved, but has a long way to go and to his credit he tried to express that between heaving breaths right after the fight. He wouldnt make it one round with couture, silvia, vera, or any other heavyweight. He has to improve seriously in all areas of the fight game. His cardio was a bit better than I thought. I will say this though, he laid it all out.

  2. MAN THAT WAS AWESOME.  I GUESS KIMBO HAD A TOUGH TIME WITH A ENGLISH MAN.

  3. Well the dudes ear was cut open there was blood all over his face i have no problem with the ref stopping the fight.

  4. Kimbo got real lucky.

  5. The show, overall, was terrible. We  have been spoiled by the UFC. Networks like CBS have time constraints, and the fights that were stopped prematurely were stopped for that reason. And stopping a championship bout on an accidental eye poke, that Smith could have recovered from, was unforgivable. A bad introduction to MMA for the uninitiated, and a disgrace to the hardcore fans.

As for the Kimbo controversy, well, controversy keeps people interested. The fans will be back for more.

  6. I watched it and was not impressed at all. Kimbo clearly tapped out in the first and clearly was not defending himself while getting elbows rained down on him in the second.

I feel the fight was fixed and the ref was paid to keep the fighters standing so Kimbo would have the edge. James had kimbo down in control positions twice and it was stood up. Gary Shaw wanted his star to be undefeated and he paid the ref to keep it that way. Any real heavyweight would destroy Kimbo!

The worst part of this entire event was potential new fans got their first look at MMA that was clearly sub-par. The production resembled WWE more than a true MMA sporting event. Bad and fixed calls is what killed boxing and if EliteXC becomes the face of MMA you can expect MMA to get the same reputation as boxing. Another credible organization (UFC, WEC, etc....) needs to start showing some MMA events on TV!
