I think this was totally pathetic, and if a ref can't spot this, it definitley puts their training under scrutiny...

  1. theyre changing all these rules but they need to be able to make sure important calls like that are made. I like how in league now the Video ref can make a call and get the ref to change the call. i think in this instance the ref needs to be overruled. Esp since it cost the canes so much

  2. the call was bad on his part, but i believe the assistant refs aka touch judges should have been there too, they're just as accountable for the mistake, i mean all they have to do is to be able to run right next to the play and they would have seen it.

i believe 15-a-side should incorporate a dead-ball area ref as it is done in 7's to help out the ref. would also help TMO calls and make obvious infractions such as the hurricanes game more free-flowing.

i read today that the ref did appologise and that did make a mistake. whats done is done i guess and life goes on, i've seen worser decisions by a ref go unpunished so i hope he continues and learns from his mistake.

  3. Yeah, I saw it live over here in Aussie... I can't believe that that ref is being defended by his peers! He should at least be dropped for a week or two.

Pretty much if there is any controversy in a try-scoring opportunity (especially in a close-scoring game) they should send it to the TMO.

An outrageous finish! If that happened to my team I be seriously p*ssed!

  4. Yeah I saw that live. Pretty poor refereeing, eh?

At first I wasn't sure if it should have been a penalty try, but after watching the replays.........it definitely was!!!

Where's the TMO when he's needed most?????

  5. .It was a bad call allright.

The whole match had that "bizzareness" about it.

Earlier on there was a video-ref call against a try by Terblanc which I would have given , one player red carded for attempting to head-butt a player THREE times ( the disciplinary hearing gave him only 6 weeks ... over vigourous entry to a ruck ... or some similar drivel ....the guy had allready served a suspension for biting a player) ; another player yellowcarded for what can only be described as being a total meathead ; and two kicks bouncing off the upright , one near the end when the scores were level.

A draw was probably a fair result.

But yeah , that was a blatent miss by the ref ; one of the worst I've seen .... I'm 52 and been following rugby all my life.
