Question:

Who else thinks horse racing needs a Street Sense/Curlin rematch in the Belmont?

I'd love to see these 2 gut it out in the Belmont, triple crown aside, for bragging rights. Granted, not as many people will tune in as would if Street Sense were going for all the marbles, but most people watching the Preakness would probably tune in to see what COULD have happened if they had that extra 1/8 mile of track. Would one horse fade, or could they run neck-and-neck down the stretch for another photo-finish?! How awesome would that be? I could see a definite buzz starting in the next few days over this possible billing. Opinions?

  1. don't get too excited.....if both jockey take back and wait for the stretch run...old hard spun might just set very slow fractions and keep on going, and you know as well as i, there will be some new faces going in the Belmont, that have by-passed both of the other two races.

  2. I hear you, it would be fun... but, Curlin should be looked at seriously.... he is not seasoned, he may be a name remembered for a long time to come.  We do need a "buzz" again in the industry... we keep waiting don't we????

  3. Horse racing doesn't 'need' that, but it would be a great race if they are both sound for it.  Hopefully they'll meet again, either there or maybe at the Breeders Cup.

  4. It would be great to see, but as of now Street Sense is not being pointed to the Belmont.  However, we can all hope and look forward to the midsummer Derby, The Travers at Saratoga were (hopefully) they will both line up to slug it out going a mile and a quarter again.  Who knows they might even prep for it together in the Jim Dandy.  Although I'm sure Curlin will probably be aimed for the bigger purse of the Haskel and Street Sense' connections will stick with tradition and run in the Jim Dandy, assuming they are both still sound come August.
