Who else thinks kimbo slice is overrated?

yeah he may be like good at punching the c**p outta people, but that's wat a street fighter does, my question is "is kimbo slice really what the essence of a MMA fighter should be?" take into account not only his limited skill set but also his attitude

He throws sloppy punches, elbows, and rolls around like every other UFC competitor, doesn't he? That's the 'essence' of an MMA fighter, at least in the forum you're talking about. They're all overrated. There are maybe four or five of them that actually know what a martial art actually is, and they don't even use it in the octagon.

You wanna see what MMA should look like if you do it right? Go to Brazil and study your JJ there. There isn't any of that sloppy half step sorta learnin there.

ive never heard anyone say he is even close to being the best.

he is a crude street style brawler that people love to watch, but i dont hear any knowledgable fans saying he is "great" or anything.

to be over rated, people have to be saying he is better than he actually is, and i dont think thats happeneing.

The Great Kimbo Debate rages on... Kimbo is overrated? By who? He's not on any experts top 10 list. He's not a ranked fighter. Which means no one who has an opinion of any merit has ranked or rated him in any way.

What Kimbo is, quite frankly, is OVERHYPED. EliteXC is trying to use Mr. Slice's image, persona, and marketability to gain some notoriety in the MMA business. They are USING him. They are going to build him up, and when the time is right, they WILL bring him down.

I am a fan of Kimbo. He's a tough guy, and an all around success story. He's not an MMA fighter, and he isn't being brought up as one. He's a circus attraction, like a trained elephant or a bear. He needs to get in, get his money and get out, before he becomes a complete laughing stock or before he gets hurt by someone who knows what he's doing in that cage.

Just added: I don't know the man personally, none of us do. But in the majority of his interviews, he's been nothing but respectful. Of the sport, of his trainers, and for the most part, of his opponents. The only times he's lashed out is when someone has talked trash about him first. I've never seen him badmouth an opponent, or go out of his way to "call out" anyone. Hate his fighting style if you want. Hate his image. I can't be mad at you for that. But for some of the haters, their dislike of Kimbo comes down to one thing, whether they want to admit it or not....

Just added again: If that didnt apply to you, i'm sorry for stirring the pot.  But note, I never called You a racist. And I still RESPECTFULLY disagree with your assessment of Kimbo. He's a terrible mixed martial artist, but he might be an O.K. person. That's what I really meant to say. And with that, I'll leave you alone.

i would not say overrated because he does make for a great story famed street fighter turns MMA star and his skill are growing each day no one can say that he will never be more than a brawler and as far as ufc fighter and being outstanding citizens i think you should take a closer look at the fighter in the organization most are hot headed jerks that avoid places to stay out of trouble
