After they recently invaded Georgia and totally wasted that country, our ally..., now they threaten that Poland "risks invasion" now that they signed a nuclear defense deal with us. Russia must be looking for a fight, and i hope one of these days they mess with the wrong country and get smoked. Who else thinks that Russia is doing this?

  1. definitely, wats wrong with the???? what are they trying to prove!?!

  2. I don't think Russia is looking for a fight.  We are trying to put missiles in a country right beside theirs.  We didn't like it when they tried doing that to us back in the early 1960s and we almost risked war stopping them.  So why is it fair for us to to the same to them now?

As for the invasion of Georgia, they basically brought it on themselves.  That little conflict started when two provinces of Georgia, who happened to be made up of mostly Russians, decided to break away from Georgia.  Not wanting to lose the land and the oil underneath, Georgia sent their military to stop them.  That's when Russia got involved.  Really, Georgia should have just let them go and all of that would have been avoided.

So really, Russia isn't looking for a fight.  The U.S. is pushing something unfair and Georgia started their conflict.

Also, as for some country attacking Russia and leaving them "smoked?"  That's insane.  Who would think they could defeat Russia when they have a stockpile of nukes?  The U.S.?  Only if we want to take a chance on being wiped off the face of the planet.

  3. I agree that they are trying to show the world that they're a superpower again. Russia is enjoying an era of prosperity right now while the US is reeling under a recession coupled with high gas prices, housing problems etc.

Basically similar positions like we were in when the cold war ended. Just that now Russia is the one on top. I think their leadership (most of whom remember the fall of the Soviet Union) sees an opportunity to get back on top as a superpower and they're doing it the only way Russia has historically shown it knows how to do. By bullying weaker nations and flexing it's muscles.

I think they're taking advantage of their prosperous economy and our troubled one.

    .

  4. Actually Russia is looking to restore the Soviet Union while avoiding a fight. Georgia was first only because of the pipeline that bypasses their control. Just watch the time line. This is nothing more than history repeating itself, with a Putin twist.

It is interesting to watch, mainly to see if the rest of Europe lets history repeat itself. I wager it will.

  5. People know little about SO or Georgia; crude oil is not an asset in either area; the Russians are concerned about the natural gas lines through Georgia that go to western Europe that ruins the EU dependence on Russian natural gas and Russian supply lines.  The lines in Georgia run from the Caspian Sea area and the non-Georgian and non-Russian fields in that area; Georgia has some minor oi fields but nothing major and I do not think the SO has any but again they would be minor.  The thing is non-Russian controlled fields need a line through Georgia to get to western Europe and that the Russians do not want.  To answer the question-No the Russians are looking to use the unnecessary, setup, use of force against Georgia to bluff or intimidate other countries.  The will not attack Poland (a NATO member) and would not use nuclear weapons against them as they threatened this morning and probably not attack the Ukraine because that would push NATO, the EU, and the US too far but will use the show of force to try to get them back in line with Russian wants.

  6. Russia is scared, its losing its allies (aka subject states scared of them for 60 - 100 years) and now its willing to risk a **** storm to keep itself in power in central europe.

    Scary days

  7. Russia threatening to invade Poland is a false threat. Poland is a member of NATO and unless Russia plans on ending humanity over something like that, then i guess the Russians are insane. But i higly doubt, i'm actually willing to bet my lifesavings on nothing happening!

  8. It is very alarming isn't it? They are definitely taking advantage of a world theater that is scared of a major conflict. Unfortunately they won't suffer to many consequences do the the fact that Europe is only good for a warning or two. In my opinion, the U.S. should stop wasting time and figure out a way to totally isolate them. Kick them out of the UN!. If they even think of bombing Poland their done. Poland is part of NATO and it is that organization's purpose to protect it's members. How dare they threaten with the possibility of nukes. what really would they accomplish?  It's about time that the world leaders act like leaders and put an end to this never ending bull****!

  9. You may be right they may be looking for a fight but its not about oil, the gas line information is credible. Russia sees we the US have gotten pretty much away with a preemptive strike against Iraq and sees the same with especially Turkey, so they feel they can send a message to us and the world at large they will not stand for a missile detection system in what they feel is their area of the world. What we are seeing are certain military powers letting everyone know just how complicated and tricky preemptive strikes can be.

  10. Very much so.  They're threatening Poland and the Ukraine as well.  And they're still not out of Georgia.  It's so obvious.

  11. I don't 'think' they are looking for trouble, I know they are. Their attack on Georgia was really a way to march right in our face knowing we didn't have the resources at the moment to have a conflict over there too. They will keep pushing their luck until someone kicks their butt. An old bully, that's all they are.

  12. Oh, yeah! Putin's just itchin' to show that Russia is still a world power.

    Can you say "Superpower Envy?"

  13. I don't think Russia is looking for a fight,  I think Georgia was looking for one.   They listened to much to George W. Bush and he definately is looking for a fight.   The USA is not the world's police and we have no business trying to punish Russia for anything.   If we took care of the USA as much as we try to mind the world's business our country would be in top shape rather in the mess Bush has it in.
