  1. I am a postie and I am afraid the days of a Postal Service have long since passed.  Since Crozier and Leighton took over it has become a Postal Business and they are not interested in the people who receive mail, only those who send it.

The CWU tried to inform the public what was likely to happen part of the reasons for the 8 strikes last year was to highlight the dangers in Royal Mails new ethos.  The media portrayed us as money grabbing 70s dinosaurs but now everything we warned about is happening.  For instance:

Earlier Last Collection times from Boxes. (Before Mid-day is not uncommon)

Later Delivery times to your house - now likely to get later.

Collection Offices closing at lunch time

    Post Offices closing

Post Office transferring to unsuitable WHSmiths Shops

    Postage Prices increasing.

    More Junk mail

Regular Posties being moved to different duties and the Quality of Service suffering.

As a Postman I would be more than willing to work Sundays as long as we were not forced, and in line with everyone else we got a premium rate for working it.  Also it should not interfere with the 40 hour maximum working week.  If id did come in though you would eventually have to pay for it through increased postage prices.

  2. y?? just another day to get bills!?
