Who else thinks what Bella Carolli said on the Olympics recap session was right?

He mentioned, after a break from the women's gymnast final, that Alicia Sacamone was robbed out of third or possibly 2nd place! They stil gave it to that little CHinese girl even after she feel from a vault routine. Is CHina playing favorites, and should they do a rescore?

oh give it up, just because "bella carolli" says so doesnt mean its true, the judges know better, and no offence to anyone but alicia sacamone did horrible, and also dont add details bashing people giving thier own opinion, such an american thing to do, stop whining

Think, if the judges are favoring the Chinese, then why did they come in 3rd in the individual all around.

Are u a nut? That little girl is 20 years old and she hasn't been the 3 mentioned in newspaper. Quit whining. If Sacramone had some umps on her difficulty; she will had the bronze in no doubt.

There is no way for China to play favorites, as the judging is not done by only Chinese judges.

Totally. I'm not sure if she deserved the silver, but she definitely was robbed from the bronze. Alicia did two very solid vaults, while the chinese girl landed on her hands and knees. Something is definitely wrong. I didn't care for it when the olympics started, but now, I'm rooting for China to fail because of the way the judges are obviously favoring them. Not that it would matter I suppose, they'll get great scores and medals even when they **** up anyway.

Didn't watch the game, but I read the article on yahoo. Perhaps you should read it, so you could understand why the results came out the way they were. People are complaining awfully a lot but are clueless...

China can't play favorites, because they are not the only judges.

Cheng Fei's routine was more difficult than Alicia's, so even though she got deducted for a bad landing, she started out with a higher degree of difficulty which gave her more starting points.

A lot of people make a big deal about the LANDING.  If vault scores were based totally on the landings, then nobody would do anything difficult.  Rather, there are other factors leading into the final score, including difficulty and form.

By far, I am not a gymnastics expert, but I think to the untrained eye, the easiest thing to spot to judge a routine on would be the landing.  Personally, I can't tell the difference between many of the vaults on why one is more difficult than the other, but I respect that the judges know better and are judging with their experience in the sport.

Plus, Bela Karolyi is the National Team Coordinator for United States Gymnastics, so it's understandable why he would be partial to Sacramone.  Also, in the past he's been criticized for overly protesting scores for his native country and the United States.

I am in total agreement with what Béla Károlyi said and I do feel that Sacramone may have been robbed.  As far as playing favorites to the Chinese, I don't see how that can happen.  I do know from boxing that sometimes the judges may get caught up in the "hometown" frenzy.  Sometimes crowd reaction can warrant a judge to score higher than usual.  I know they are supposed to be professional, however, they are human.  In any case, I feel horrible for Alicia Sacramone, however, I also believe that when you are going for the gold in the finals, you need to bring your A game.  She should have prepared to perform a second vault with a 6.5 difficulty.  Her second vault was lower.  Even so, she performed them with minimal errors while the Chinese and South Korean athletes made blatant errors.

I think the 33 year old Deutschland should have taken the gold, Sacramone the silver and the South Korean athlete the bronze.

Of course he is right.  They wont do a rescore and she was robbed.  Nothing we can do about it though.  It just goes with the pattern of the rest of the olympics.

I agree. We were sandbagged and Alicia was ripped off. Doesn't have to be all Chinese judges. The Olympic governing body and most of the rest of the world is infatuated with communist China, and are bending over backward to kiss their *** on everything from trade, to pollution controls, to the Olympics...

You don't think there are politics involved judging?....Please.
