WTF was that? Random performers wearing nonidentical costumes? A bus that transforms into some ugly stage and out comes Leona Lewis who lip syncs some cacophony? David Beckham kicking a soccer ball in a random direction? Men in umbrellas waiting for a bus? *yawn*

  1. I thought it was awful. First the London mayor should have buttoned his jacket when being presented with the flag. All other dignitaries did. Then the Brit presentation looked like something that was very low budget and put together.

And what was the deal with David Beckham?  Sorry, but how did this man ever get to be a celebrity?

    It was an embarrassment.

  2. I thought it was better than the opening and closing ceremonies combined.

But what do you expect? They're always corny. You remember the Chinese presentation at Athens? Stereotypical martial arts people, gymnasts, funky Chinese theater characters...

I thought the presentation was thoroughly modern, without the excessive chintziness that we saw from the opening and closing ceremonies.

  3. Kinda overshadowed by the opening ceremony

  4. Not only was their act a joke, so was their mayor...

  5. The mayor of London seemed out of placed. Even though the previous mayor was the one who spearheaded the Olympic bid this mayor is the taking the credit at the closing. He didn't look so bright or professional. Kind of frumpy. You don't even know if he will still be mayor in 4 years, his re-election will start before the games. That was the only thing that bothered me when the games were handed to London. The London performance was okay, but not spectacular.

  6. Some of the things just seemed nonsensical and WEIRD. Like, to some degree all of the performances for the Beijing ceremonies made sense and had some meaning behind them.

  7. it was very disappointing from a country that could have done much better. the bus was really cool at first, but then the whole thing ended up looking like a float from a high school homecoming game. hopefully they will have some constructive feedback so they can pull something better together for 2012, beijing has set the bar very high from now on...

  8. How many times have I heard this? Did you get the message? It was all about fun and entertainment, all you were thinking 'This is as bad as London', for goodness sake, I dont know what was so bad about it. What can you do with 8 minutes, it was better than you would have ever done...

  9. The sound was TERRIBLE.  The whole thing seemed "little".  Like I'm not even looking forward to the opening ceremonies in London.

  10. It was very low budget.  The men in umbrellas represented the weather in England which is true, and them queuing up for the bus, accurate :]

Leona Lewis did not lip sync by the way, which is why the song wasn't that great, but she tried her best.

  11. I thought the Londons section was the best bit. It showed us what England is all about. It was humourous, it involved Football and included the legend which is Jimmy Page of Led Zeplin. And when it comes to producing great Rock Bands Britain leads the world

  12. I liked it, I just did not understand why they had people walking on people.

  13. The Greenwich Time Signal, Shipping Forecast, Greensleeves and Jerusalem gave me goosebumps, but then I'm British and enjoy that sort of thing. Plus, how can you not like Led Zeppelin?

  14. Maybe China was a bit too good for them to match but still... I really expected something better...The Leona Lewis and Zeppelin part was really awkward and weird, but Beckham was just so random that it made the whole thing look really unprofessional... If they wanted to show a more 'relaxed' term, at least come up with something classier... A 'royalty' theme would have been so much better than this c**p... Anyways..not really awaiting it.

  15. yeah it was kinda lame, it seemed like i was watching a musical.

  16. I thought it was ok.  The only question was when that kid walked on the back of some of the people to get on the bus?

I mean what???  This is not the middle ages people!!!

  17. Come on folks it wasn't as if Shakespeare and Chaucer showed up in the round. London is known for rain, queuing up, double decker buses, Abbey Road, its vibrant music scene and its world-famous stage culture. And of course football, football, football!!. All that was missing was a giant hydraulic teapot from which would emerge a half a dozen or comedians sharing a pint or two! Note to organizers-was Seal not available?

The low-key approach was welcomed-I found the closing ceremonies far too much and too long. This was not a sports opening and closing ceremony but a political statement on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party (read propaganda)  to say we are changing- we're really not stuck in the 1400's anymore...

  18. I was embarrased for the UK....what a disappoitment..

I hope they came come up with something better than that preview....after all it couldnt be any worse !!

Sack the 'ideas committee' and get someone who can show something innovative .

The UK has so much to offer and all we got was that? unbelievable !!

  19. it was okay... I really don't like David Beckham..like he trying to force Americans to like him..Leona Lewis part was nice
